Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

I've been called things that are too good to forget, but never kept an overview. I'll start now:
you are vengeful and vindictive. I hate you.
you have worn rose coloured horse blinkers in this forum for quite a long time now.
(quotes may or may not have been taken out of context)

Context can be important, but maybe for the purpose of your highlighting of the matter, you are not necessarily wanting to get bogged down too much into context (for now), just building up a list... perhaps?

But just your proclaiming that you are not necessarily considering context, causes me to consider my own behaviors in terms of either good names or bad names that I might give to other members, and sometimes I will make some pretty "extreme assertions" about some other member(s), and sometimes I am merely attempting to emphasize some kind of point (so I don't necessarily even literally mean what I had said), and other times, I might be trying to negotiate some kind of a situation or win an argument, and in those contexts the emphasis could be made to try to win the argument, throw the other person off (attempt to cause them to become emotional) or even to distract a bit from the actual main substantive points (or overall subject matter being discussed).

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Since 2021 I registered in this forum, I haven't seen this thread. But after reading Op, I had no choice than to increase my respect for you, which I have had right from my newbie days.
There was when I discovered I was in DT2, I didn't use it to hunt anyone down and I didn't see it as additional power against the weak. DT power is to sanitize this forum and prevent scammers and cheaters from thriving.

I respect your approach to matters and sense of judgement. You are great!

Fork
~
Long story short: I could see my 44 sMerit transfer to this post, but it was too late to stop it.

I wanted to leave the chain of events here, in case someone questions this transaction later.
It happened again, although this time with a different reason: I recently spilled water (and ouzo, don't ask....) on my new keyboard. I cleaned it, and all keys work fine again, except for the "4": it sometimes doubles the 4 when I hit it once. I hit Enter right after the 44, so the mistake was set in stone. Luckily, nothing's lost, Lucius just has a bit more Merit than I planned for.

Typing the "4" a few times above, and having to correct "44" several times made me realize the problem is much more common than I thought. I'll take apart that button again, and order a new keyboard if it doesn't work. Unreliable numbers can create much bigger problems than sending too much Merit.

You should look into replacing the keyboard PCB, if ti's a generic model.

But if you choose to do it, then open the keyboard carefully. I recently had the misfortune of having all the rubber caps in a keyboard fall out after opening it, and I was never able to get the keys pressing again. Oh well. The Shift keys never worked anyway.

I recently spilled water (and ouzo, don't ask....) on my new keyboard.

Any questions one could have just answered themselves.  Cheesy Cheesy

I had to replace my OLD mouse recently because the left button was double clicking every time I wanted to single click.  It came on slowly, and before I figured out what was going on I accidently sent 10 merits twice.  Both times it happened it was to the same individual who is very deserving, even if wasn't necessarily for those two specific posts.

It's a Dell, I don't think I can replace parts. I took it apart (again), and the 4 is typing like a 4 again. So to type 44 I have to press the 4 twice. I should have done this earlier, this feels amazing Cheesy

I can actually put this keyboard back together. Now that we're on the subject of keyboards: the lines under F and J are quite thin. I replace my previous keyboard because I they were worn and I couldn't feel them anymore, which often let me type ;ole tjos amd mpbpdu cam read ot/ (but if you type this in Google, Google knows your hands are off and goes with a correct: "did you mean....").

That doesn't sounds like a dust problem, but it's worth a shot. My current mouse doesn't always scroll when the wheel "clicks", which causes a discrepancy between what I see and what I feel. My previous mouse had the exact same problem, which is why I replaced it. Somehow those things aren't meant to last Tongue

Off-topic, but that could be a good feature for Talksearch.

Licking my boob since 1970

My current mouse doesn't always scroll when the wheel "clicks", which causes a discrepancy between what I see and what I feel.

I have the same issue, which is why I use mechanical keyboards exclusively.   It was my number "5" that broke when I was cleaning, and it lead me to rethink my inputs.

I now have two keyboards and a macro mouse that lets me game with just my right hand almost as fast as I used to when I was a gamer.

good mechanical keyboards generally have individually hot swapable key switches.

of course you can buy like 20 cheapo membrane kbs for the price too.

So it was accidental? Honestly, it seemed to me that you didn't plan to do that, but you repeated several times that you have about 4000 sMerits, so I thought that you were doing some kind of spring cleaning of your merit bags. Still, as you say, nothing is lost - considering I'm not a merit source, a slightly larger supply will come in handy to reward more good posts than I can otherwise afford.

In that case, I would have tried to find a post that's more fitting. And I would have sent 42 Merits instead of 44.

It seems that the forum is missing one very important feature - to cancel a merit transaction in a short period of time if someone realizes they made a mistake. The only thing I can try is to contact the admin and ask him to return your merits - I've never wanted something that doesn't belong to me.

As a Linux-user, I generally appreciate the lack of "undo". But repetitive tasks are prone to mistakes: I've sent Merit over 16,000 times. If I'd take 2 seconds to verify before I hit "Enter", that would have taken me 9 hours in total. I think I've made a (big) mistake 3 times so far, so it's not worth the 3 hours.

Don't worry about it, it belongs to you now Tongue It's not worth taking up Admin's time. I only posted about it for transparency.
