Of a truth sports journalists may be on the pressure to bet, yet those with the professional mindset do keep away from it because it could risk their credibility or raise interest conflicts. As though I was a journalist, I'm not sure to bet on the very game I report on as I may not enjoy it and could bring bias into my coverage. Let gambling and work be kept on separate parts,it better that way, let fans do the betting and let journalist enjoy the sport as it is.
It will really give people to find some loopholes in their profession. A way to ruin their public image if they are seeing that you are betting as well. As a public figure, you should know how to manage your image and maintain your credibility. You should not let the public find a hole that will give them reason not to trust you in whatever you are delivering to the public. Do remember, one mistake and it can ruin your entire career. What you have built throughout the years can just vanished at one wrong move. You can always find that money, but reputation - would be very hard to build again after it has been tarnished.

Journalists are basically present at every game, broadcasting the game on their channels, and many of them may be involved in gambling. They may bet both online and offline, as more people watch the game on their channels and many of them participate in gambling. However, journalists definitely gamble because they broadcast every game and they can predict which team will win by researching each game well. Because people who are fans of games must bet on games.
I am aware that footballers, coaches and some club officials are restricted from placing bets on their teams. But I have not read any law that bans sports journalists from placing bets on any sports, including the ones he is active in. I perceive that sports reporters will be good sports betters since they are always current with events surrounding games. And they could be good analysts since they might be good at club or individual records and match statistics.

The sports industry does not only consist of athletes and managers. There are also the reporters or journalists. They are the ones who go to watch live sports and report trackside or from the studio. They follow the season and the athletes. They are the ones who build a narrative and share it to the public. It got me thinking whether they do sports betting or not and uses whatever inside information they have. Or do they spread something just to bet something different? If you were a sports journalist, would you enjoy betting on the sports you report on?
I don't think it's necessary for this journalist to gamble on the sport they report despite having information needed to gamble with. Although it's a matter of choice wether to gamble or not. I know many are gamblers while some are not gamblers despite doing a work relating to Gambling. So if I am in the shoes of this journalist I may gamble when I see a more possible wining game but not all the time. I know you guys may think of a game that is more possible but we all know some game that appears to be sure despite gambling is all about luck that we can't be sure until the game has ended. People can be lucky to predict matches and they win that doesn't implied that they are sure of those matches before gambling, there can be possible winning games but we are not yet sure until it's final blow by the referral of the match. Sports journalist can gamble is choice not all but i don't think a sports journalist will be addicted to gambling the chance of gambling won't be much i may not gamble since are already receiving pay from the work am doing or if i will gamble it will be money i can afford to lose.

Sport journalist actually play a huge role most especially in public opinion, the way the report matches, hype a team and all of that. And for of journalists bet it actually depends on the individual and the rules and regulation of their organisation, in some kind of organisations some sports journalist are not allowed to bet, most especially on game's they cover one, so it won't lead to conflict or some kind of une wanted behaviour. And on a more sincere note if I were to be a journalist I would avoid talking about games I bet on.

Maybe every field should have their own reporters and journalists who cover them and display the information to the world or for their citizens, so it's not that exciting that sports have journalists or reporters.
To the point, they have the correct information and everything that can be needed for placing good bets, but they don't do it themselves because their job and public demand require them to cover the sports. If they were involved in gambling, how could they report? As reporters, they have access to certain places, but if they are found engaging in such activities, they will not be allowed to enter.

Yeah I think most of this journalist still make use of those informations they have to gamble, but I think they are few because some journalist won't have the chance to gamble since they will be very busy to get lastest informations. Well if I happens to be a journalist of course I will enjoy betting on the sports i report on, but it all depends on the report I made concerning the particular team if it is bad reports like injury case I can chose to bet thier opponent since their chance of winning is very low due to the injury Case. while sometimes I can also make a report about new signings this way you will also see that the club is at advantage to win, there are other informations that a journalist would get that we gamblers may not be able to get.

Journalists? If you watch pundits they have 10 different opinions while watching the game. Just like us. No advantage lol
Exactly This is just my opinion, but I don't think I would like to bet on games I had to cover as a sports journalist. Not only because of the critics from people who think otherwise, but because I would be more focused on the money I would be going to win or lose than in doing my job properly. I love sports, but doing both things would mean overthinking too much, I guess. Opinions are cheap and everybody can have one, actually everybody has a lot and we're all giving it on this forum every day. Heck we have tipsters charging people money to hear their opinion but obviously they are never right all the time. I keep wondering why tipster industry even exists, just like in trading signals industry. If anyone with a brain uses it, they will realize signals and tipsters don't need to ask for money if they are accurate enough to make money from right opinions

I probably would have liked it. Why not, if it really didn't interfere with work and wouldn't cause any conflict of interest. After all, if the judges or the athletes themselves place bets, there will be a scandal, but journalists are just outsiders who do not influence the outcome of sporting events.

Where did you get the information, that sports journalists have inside information? Just because they have a press badge and can enter behind the scenes it does not mean they know more than a regular sports fan. In big sport, where big money are, nobody would share extra information besides team. But, as sports journalists spend 24/7 with sport they like, I do think that their chances of correct prediction are higher than regular bettor has.

I think most of the jobs related to or somehow related to the gambling industry might have a contract that may mention they can't interfere with any gambling activities, or I think they wouldn’t enjoy betting on the games that they're reporting. It could create a conflict of interest, and one may always question whether the reporter is being fair or if their perspective is influenced by money. Also, for me personally, I highly doubt that I'll gamble my hard-earned money being a sports journalist since it's already a fun job to begin with, and I’d rather focus on creating new articles, for everyone to read on.

I think I would not enjoy betting on a sport I report on, because if this is a job, and I am reporting on one sport, it becomes such a routine, that I dont feel any emotions towards it. I would become so bored with one sport, that I would wish to have less of it in my life. If I face it every day at work, I would try to get rest from it. Gambling is emotions. If I place a bet on someone I am making a report on, that will 100% affect quality of my report. I would pay more attention on someone I place bet on, and cheer for it. As my job is to be independent, neutral, a bet would harm my job result as I would have a favorite.
