Why do some people hide to gamble

I think one of the reason why some persons hide to gamble it's because of what gamble has done to them and people around them has also noticed the change but they don't know what exactly is the cause, I have seen where a rich man turn to common person because of gamble and people don't know it's was gamble that reck him so anytime he wants to go and gamble he will be hiding so that people won't see him cause it will be a shameful thing for him if people find out that it was gamble that done that
to him.
