Consequences of Trump stopping HIV funding for Naija

I don't think we should be celebrating Trump's decision to stop HIV funding, it's not like Nigeria has the infrastructure or resources to provide adequate care for those living with the virus, cuts won't just affect those with HIV but also the whole healthcare system. We should be calling on our government to take responsibility and invest in our own healthcare, not rely on foreign aid.

no body is celebrating trump policy to stop supplying HIV drugs to Nigeria, we are only expressing ourselves, because it's very bad for Nigeria politicians to be playing politice over everything, HIV is a virus which Nigeria citizens have it in them, in stead of our government to watch out for there citizens who have the virus, they are using it to play politice just for them see money to share among themselves.

And secondly it is not in the place of Nigeria citizens to call upon the government to take responsibility and invest in our Healthcare just as you said. Because if they don't know there responsibilities, why are they there to represent us? That is to tell you that they know there responsibilities but they choose not to do them, because our government is very corrupt.

Nobody is celebrating we're just stating facts about the whole issue.  Trump and USA should be responsible for your health it was a free donation not an obligation get it right. If Trump has decided not to donate free drugs again every one has to take caution on their sex life, it will reall affect Africans because of poverty rate in this region. To afford the drugs will be hard for those affected by it, and they will spread the virus to others as a the result of their inability to get the drugs.

It's so responsibility of every government to care for the health of their citizens including Hiv patients.  Now that Trump has stopped thr free hiv drops let each government sort out their citizens health centre.   Africans will record high numbers of hiv patients by 2026 because of this Trump policy that's the only sad reality if not am in support of his action against  WHO.

Thank you for that response. In the first place it was a donation that the US was willing to do over the years. And it has lasted for more than 5 years now. It seems most Nigerians don't know the cost of those drugs that is why they are not grateful. I don't think any country should be responsible for the problems of other countries because each have their individual problems to face. I expect that the Nigerian government should take the responsibility and start funding it. It is not such a big amount that is impossible for the government to take over. If it is left for the citizens alone, then will should be expecting increase in the number of persons who will die of HIV in 2 to 3 years' time.

I would also like to say this. It is better that each citizen from now on start taking every precaution to prevent HIV. It will be sad that the government will be donating fund to combat HIV while the citizens are outside having unprotected sex with silly mistakes of hygrines. Preventions is better than cure. No one will be blamed if anything happens to a citizen who got HIV out of ignorance.

We get too much resources to take care of this kinds of matter and more but the leaders wey we get wey don get this slavery mentality where everything must be handed down to us nah dey cause this setbacks.

The USAIDS funds wey the come inside the country who dey really benefit from am because last time I checked it not be the poor masses but instead an avenue wey the politicians the use enrich themselves because them the loot this funds to their personal money and just release a fragment portion to the populace.
No mind this clamour of fears, no be for the implications but for the fact say the politicians and those officials in these offices no go the see this free money to the plot as much again nah make them the raise these alarms, and not basically for the concern of how or what could happen next with the virus being spread.

Every government is supposed to do what's best for their people and funding HIV drugs doesn't benefit the US in any way, it was just a hand of goodwill. Besides we all know that this said funding wasn't solely used for the purpose of this drug, knowing how this our country works a large portion of that funding must have been embezzled without mercy. Besides Nigeria has all it takes to fund its on issues and challenges and not depend on other countries for aids. And this is an eye opener to every other person that has tested themselves and are negative to the virus to zip up and keep it closed. Not having multiple partners and as much as is possible to not share sharp objects especially salon objects like clippers make sure they are properly sterilised if you don't have your personal hair clippers and don't share any sharp objects at all because we have to do right by ourselves nobody is coming to save us.
