Because politics is a dirty game, it is the reason why most persons stop giving their votes to politicians. They lure us into accepting them into political offices and end up using everybody to fulfill their dreams. Nigerian politics is indeed a mess because whether you vote or you do not, they have made us know that our votes no longer count, and it is the reason so many persons have decided to stay in their houses during election because the person they want to choose will definitely emerge regardless of people's votes or not.

I keep saying politics in Nigeria is a dirty game, but in general it's a smart game for political actors. And it's very hard to convince a Nigerian to believe that politics is a Smart game and not dirty. Because of his environment, people learn within their surrounding. The case Rivers State, it's another fact that Nigeria politics is a dirty game. State of emergency was declared illegally to protect Wike the minister of FCT interest in the state against all odds. Before then the Governor wanted to conduct LGA election but he was suspended.
I just hope that one day our young ones will realize that politics is not a dirty game but a game of chess. A game that's strongly built on deep strategic thinking, patience and acceptance of consequences. It is a game that gives its players a mental gymnasium, a critical thought process that can be used to understand complex concepts oftentimes used to understand creative but also convoluted logic. Politics is a game ofhat involves people dealing with people and having the deepest understanding of their thought process. It has to do with you as an individual understanding what the interest of your opponents are, their thought process, their targets and their next line of action, after understanding that, then building of your own strategy to defeat the interest of the opponents. The more we dey run from this politics come dey give am different bad names, the more we will be distancing ourselves from it and the more the impacts will hit us the more, negatively. The president installed a military head to pilot the affairs of the state for six months, as I type the military head is about to conduct LGA election under his administration. How can a military head conduct a election, omo it's killing the baby democracy of Nigeria, he has no right to conduct LGA election. But Mr president wants to make wike happy, so he allows it. This is why the Nigeria politics is dirty. Politicians only cares about themselves nothing else matters not even the development of the country.
Still at this, I won't call it dirty, I Will go with your first definition which says it is a smart game of interest. Mr. President is doing all of these for a reason, to further spite the hunger of the opposition and pay loyalty with another loyalty and testifying to Wike that he can be trusted as an individual while also knowing fully well that at this point, Wike is indispensable ahead of the 2027 elections. The power Wike still wielding in his state and the environ is huge, therefore it is better to add more strength to the strength he already has and unfortunately for Fubara, he allowed himself to be used as the litmus test due to his own ambitions which were shown too early to the rogue lions

I tink say I gree with you for dis one, because dis don make plenty Nigerians stop to vote and e dey make dem believe say politicians dey make fake promises wey dem fit no intend to keep. I go talk say dis fit lead to loss of trust for di system. Well, di feeling say our votes no dey count na because dis most powerful politicians dey prioritize their own interest pass di people needs, wey don lead to discrimination, disengagement, and apathy. Di belief say election outcomes don already dey decided fit make people stay for house during elections, dey feel say their votes no go make any difference. Dis kind sentiment dey show bigger concern about di health of democracy and di need for reform or change to bring back faith for di political process.

The coalition of different parties formed by Atiku and Peter Obi seems like a correction of their mistakes to me, because had this been done before the last election, I doubt if APC would have won the last election, because the last 2023 election's analysis for these three parties isn't far away from each other: APC was at 37%, PDP 29%, and LP 25%. Imagine if PDP and LP had merged then?
That’s why I keep saying that in 2023 the APC party just had a lucky narrow victory; if not, they couldn’t have won the election in 2023, and with the way this coming election is, it will be tougher than previous ones. A lot are regretting voting for the wrong person. Because I’m sure only a few are going to vote for the APC party in this coming presidential election. My questions now are:
*What has President Bola Tinubu done so far for the masses that will guarantee him to be reelected in the 2027 election?
*Would the coalition of these parties help the masses in terms of insecurity: armed robbery, banditry, and kidnappers?
These that still have an interest in re-electing Tinubu in the 2027 election have stated that he has done a lot for Nigerians, but if that is the truth, I think it is only people that are very close to him that he has done good for since the time he was elected. People are crying and complaining every day about the situation of the country; the fact is that the government has been in power for years now, but he has done anything to change the situation in the country, and his expected return to power for a second time, I don’t think it will be possible.

The way the politics is being played, Tinubu doesn't need to do anything for the economy to be reelected, after all he got into office without the help of the masses, it was the machinery of state headed by Muhammad Buhari of blessed memories that helps and assisted him to become the president, and trust me, he will win the second term even on a landslide. We Nigerians see the blatant truth and we choose to be blind towards it, if we are running a true democracy, we wouldn't have a shaky shaky daddy as our president today.

The dirty game of Nigeria politicians is alarming.
I don't know if this topic has been discussed here before, but let's view it from a different perspective.
So the coalition of these parties will definitely put APC into a panic zone, but Tinubu is a very smart politician, because he will know where to come out for them; moreover, he owns the power now.
My questions now are:
*What has President Bola Tinubu done so far for the masses that will guarantee him to be reelected in the 2027 election?
*Would the coalition of these parties help the masses in terms of insecurity: armed robbery, banditry, and kidnappers?
Because we are not sure if the new ADC party will really help Nigeria to move forward, since the power is being recycled within themselves and is not tangible, so to say.
We pray for a better Nigeria.
I disagree with you OP for saying that politics is a dirty because I know it isn't a dirty game, is it those corrupt people involved in politics that are dirty and making it look like it isn't a genuine game. Nigeria have a long list of corrupt leaders and it will be very difficult to reset the system for good, and creating new parties isn't going to make the situation in the country better and it will continue to get worse until they decide to concentrate on pdp because PDP is recorded a lot of good leaders in the past and I believe they still have the potential to do so now. I thought it that tinubu will make it in his second half because he has done more bad than good and everyone in the country has seen that APC is a weapon fashioned against the country.

Nigeria's election is no longer judged by what the government has done or achieved while in office.
Also, your vote no longer seems to count.
As you rightly said, politics is a dirty game. Those politicians forming coalitions to bring down the APC are also deceivers. They are not genuinely concerned about Nigerians; they simply want power.
They have no concrete plans to tackle kidnapping, banditry, or insecurity.
Don’t be carried away by their moves.
A politician like El-Rufai is only against Tinubu because he feels he was not properly compensated for the sacrifices he made during the last election.
If everybody go just get one mindset not to vote that day, since them already know who be the winner. Make they just make their choice and people go just follow am, than to dey waste people time and energy yet, them no give wetin the people want. So no reason to vote, corrupt don take over everything for this country and na only God go save person for this country, because politics no be wetin person go involve themselves put, e no dey bring good results at all. due to the complex nature of the kind of politicking done in this part of the world especially in Africa where integrity and accountability do not really hold water, it could be very difficult to vote based on antecedents but rather by ethnicity, religious or tribal sentiments which is why people are held responsible when they abuse their offices.

I dislike when you guys see politics as a dirty game, its not please, I'm a political scientist just because there are dirty people playing the game in this part of the world doesn't make it a dirty game generally. Its a game of interest, to serve the best interest of the people when elected, and to solve a societal issues. if you understand politics you will know its a service game not where you enter to enrich yourself, in fact in the western world people do not think about it, they see it a stress game for servicing people when you should use the time to build one-self, that is why people don't see politicians as anything in an aspect of sing praises for them, just as we do in Africa. because they are mere workers.
In Nigeria, buccaneers, blood suckers and ritualists has join the game and has make the game of politics look like a dangerous one, because if you dare challenge them they will kill you. Technocrats has shifted attention from the game of politics , its now left for dangerous men in the country, and all they do is to enrich themselves with the resources given to them to better the society, they embezzled the funds and there is no consequence for it. That is the only dirty i see in this part of the world.
literally everybody is entitled to their own opinion towards every issue whether political, governance, leadership or life in general and for somebody to think politics is a dirty game isn't strange to me considering the antecedents of politicians and how they negatively impacted the system. A typical Nigerians politician has little or no respect for the people they claim to be representing and at such do not care if the people live or die, and in some cases they even go as far as killing those who stand to criticize or oppose them openly.

Also, your vote no longer seems to count.
While this may or may not be true we can't really tell because one will wonder if our votes don't truly counts, why are the politicians spending big amounts of money every 4 years to contest in an election if they that know the process more than us still believe that the people's vote will make them win the election. Have you really asked yourself this question? Let's consider someone like Atiku Abubakar he has been contesting for president since I knew him and still he hasn't won. If votes don't count why is he always contesting and wasting money when they are not compensated for losing. Some how I believe that our votes do counts irrespective of the what people says. They have no concrete plans to tackle kidnapping, banditry, or insecurity.
We can't judge a party that hasn't come into power to know if they can tackle insecurity or not. Believe me all governments can't be the same. As Nigerians let's keep trying different parties till we get it right this is my humble submission.

Well as for me I don't think the coalition is going to work because if we take a look at the last election, electoral body which is inec has so many issues and excuses. I believe this next election is going to be transparent, the possibilities of APC winning election won't be there. So is not coalition that is the problem here , assuming this coalition even existed in the last election this issue would have still be there. All we need in Nigeria right is to get a good leader that will have the interest of the masses at heart and not just a set of people that is power drunk and is representing there selfish interest .
If in any way we are thinking that election will be free and fair then we need to wake up from such dream in our country, our elections has indirectly been conducted as a selection rather than election, a corrupt government is always succeeded by their loyalt comrades who only lives in expectations of fulfilling agreements by their predecessors, politics in our country is a dirty game I don't really know much about other countries, we should all be looking forward to seeing a good and better government if only the same masses can reduce taken of briberies in selling our rights.

I think politics in Nigeria shouldn't be based on the political parties a particular candidate is coming from, but should be based on his or her credibility.what Nigeria needs now is a good and passionate leader who willingly want to serve and tackle most the Nigeria challenges, not all these leaders jumping from one political parties to another because they feel they are not being carried along by the current government.so coalition will not do us any good without the emergence of a credible candidate from the party.

Politics is a dirty game in Nigeria and will always remain a dirty game, When you observe how things are going in this country, how our leaders are ruling this country then you will know that Politics is a very dirty game in this country that we find ourselves, sometimes when you look at the bandit and herdsmen I understand that this things are politicized, because if the government are ready to stop this terrible crime they will instantly stop them.
When you look at the things that have happened in Rivers State, where a elected governor was suspended from office, and state of emergency was declared in Rivers states all because of a previous governor was asking to share and loot the money of Rivers State, and the sitting governor refused that was the only reason why they declared a state of emergency in the state, and that shows enough reason why their was state of emergency in state, Politics might not be a dirty game in the western world, but it’s dirty in Africa most especially in Nigeria.

Seriously if we have working systems and developed country we don't need tinubu come back for the second time because he's almost killing country with taxes, poor man can't request for ten thousand naira (10,000) in peace anymore charges must follow. Many African continent are moving far away from France, and we seen developments with those countries, while tinubu moving closer to them day and night. One of his campaign promises was 24hrs electricity and failed woefully not even Niger State that is supplying electricity having 24hrs electricity as promised, and also increment on federal institutions tuition fees every day. I see nothing working smoothly but has full assurance that he'll win in next coming election because he has conquer all the state governors already.

Maybe the real problem isn’t politics itself but the kind of people who go into it. Politics is supposed to be about service, a chance to use your knowledge and effort to build society. But here, many see it as a business or a quick way out of poverty. Once that mindset takes over, things naturally get dirty because it becomes about self-interest, not the people. Even though the system is tough, if more genuine people with clean intentions get involved, change could happen little by little. But as long as power and connections remain the main ticket, politics here will keep looking dirty.
