The dirty game of Nigeria politicians is alarming.
I don't know if this topic has been discussed here before, but let's view it from a different perspective.
The coalition of different parties formed by Atiku and Peter Obi seems like a correction of their mistakes to me, because had this been done before the last election, I doubt if APC would have won the last election, because the last 2023 election's analysis for these three parties isn't far away from each other: APC was at 37%, PDP 29%, and LP 25%. Imagine if PDP and LP had merged then?
So the coalition of these parties will definitely put APC into a panic zone, but Tinubu is a very smart politician, because he will know where to come out for them; moreover, he owns the power now.
My questions now are:
*What has President Bola Tinubu done so far for the masses that will guarantee him to be reelected in the 2027 election?
*Would the coalition of these parties help the masses in terms of insecurity: armed robbery, banditry, and kidnappers?
Because we are not sure if the new ADC party will really help Nigeria to move forward, since the power is being recycled within themselves and is not tangible, so to say.
We pray for a better Nigeria.

Nigeria's election is no longer judged by what the government has done or achieved while in office.
Also, your vote no longer seems to count.
As you rightly said, politics is a dirty game. Those politicians forming coalitions to bring down the APC are also deceivers. They are not genuinely concerned about Nigerians; they simply want power.
They have no concrete plans to tackle kidnapping, banditry, or insecurity.
Don’t be carried away by their moves.
A politician like El-Rufai is only against Tinubu because he feels he was not properly compensated for the sacrifices he made during the last election.

Nigeria is ruled by corrupted leaders who are completely selfish and only care about their personal gain in the system. We're talking about leaders that doesn't pull strings to help or provide social amenities for their citizens, they're just stick to empowering themselves be more wealthier and acquire power. We've watch the dirty game called politics played in the country and I must confess, it's never an easy route with these politicians and parties. Who do you support when it's time for election? Ofcourse I'm not sticking to some average or false promises made by these politicians, km only going with my instincts because these parties and politicians are the same thing. They're completely no differences between the APC or PDP.

I dislike when you guys see politics as a dirty game, its not please, I'm a political scientist just because there are dirty people playing the game in this part of the world doesn't make it a dirty game generally. Its a game of interest, to serve the best interest of the people when elected, and to solve a societal issues. if you understand politics you will know its a service game not where you enter to enrich yourself, in fact in the western world people do not think about it, they see it a stress game for servicing people when you should use the time to build one-self, that is why people don't see politicians as anything in an aspect of sing praises for them, just as we do in Africa. because they are mere workers.
In Nigeria, buccaneers, blood suckers and ritualists has join the game and has make the game of politics look like a dangerous one, because if you dare challenge them they will kill you. Technocrats has shifted attention from the game of politics , its now left for dangerous men in the country, and all they do is to enrich themselves with the resources given to them to better the society, they embezzled the funds and there is no consequence for it. That is the only dirty i see in this part of the world.

As a political scientist, there's no wrong you trying to defend your field of study. But take it or leave it, politics as we all know is a dirty game because of the activities behind it. And I don't think without these activities, politics will be what it is. And these activities happens not only in Nigeria. I'm going to state out few of these activities so you understand what I'm trying to say. Controlling information and the media is a key activity behind politics during elections. Politicians use friendly media outlets to promote themselves while spreading negative news about their opponents to reduce their popularity. In some cases, misinformation or rumors are spread secretly through social media, news papers and local networks just to damage the reputation of oppositions so they can influence public opinion in their favour. Politicians often make agreements with influential individuals, local chiefs, business people, and even rival political parties in exchange for votes or future favors. These alliances are important for gaining the support of different communities and for controlling key areas during elections. In many cases, promises of government positions, contracts, or protection are made to secure loyalty and resources from these groups. Vote influence and control is another critical hidden activity. In some regions, politicians may engage in vote buying, offering money, food, or small gifts in exchange for votes. They may also use intimidation or threats to discourage people from voting for opponents. In some cases, they try to prevent voters from rival strongholds from voting by creating fear or confusion about the voting process.

Even with a coalition party, it won't still work since our electoral system lack credibility, there is no free and fair elections as the electoral votes will always be manipulated to the advantage of the governing party. The reason why coalition party worked during the era of Goodluck Jonathan was because he was a peaceful man and values the lives of the citizens otherwise nothing would have stopped him from winning the 2015 elections but he said his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. Had it been that PDP and LP merged together, they would have only formed a strong opposition against the APC but APC wouldn't have lose the election when Buhari was still President. However, the only way that governance can be rotated is when we start practicing a two party system like the US because that is the only way to form a formidable force against the other party.

Your are contradicting me, and you end up listing the aspect of Nigeria dirty politics i was addressing in my previous post. I'm not try to defend my field of study rather am just teaching you the basic of politics. Just as the name implies game, every players would state out strategies to win the opponent but it must played according to the rules of the game. In west they respect and follow the electoral guidelines of the game of politics, even when they use the media and other social platforms to campaign and to project their agendas they do it within the ambit of the rules. so there is no way i will accept that politic is a dirty, when is not dirty in some countries, its only dirty in Africa, because the politicians doesn't respect the rule of laws nor obey the electorate laws.

Politics has always been about interest and in Nigeria its about the interest of the politicians. I never really liked the way the country is managed by the present government, but I still don't see any hope in the coalition, because I know they are not doing it for the citizens, rather for their selfish interest. Politics is not a dirty game as it has been tagged, but in Nigeria it is played in a dirty way, that's why most people see it as a dirty game. I really don't blame them for seeing it that way and never want to participate in it. I can boldly say that APC and ADC are not really interested in making Nigeria a better place for the citizens, it's all about power, who has the right to the resources of the nation.

there is nothing special about whatever coalition that peter obi and any other person want to come about with. fact is that we have seen almost all these things and there is nothing new that they can come up with that we have not seen in the past. is it not similar coalition that brought about this current APC that has shown us this amount of shege? is it that once they change the name from APC to something different then they will now become people that are serious to change the country? even when they promised us change, things went from bad to worse, how much more this time that Atiku and peter Obi are just trying to win by all means possible. the coalition is just another strategy to get power for selfish reasons and never one that is on a mission to save the dyeing country, that is at least something to be certain about.

What you see as the only dirty is enough to sink a country. In fact, it is not wrong to say that Nigeria is sinking because we have refused to move forward as a country and the reason for this stagnation is because of the nature of our politics. I think people don't go into politics for service but rather they want to be served. This is where we have gotten it wrong. The mindset people gets about politics is simply a selfish one. It is always believed politics is the shortest way of becoming rich and that is why when people go into office they do nothing other than accumulate so much wealth for themselves and their generations. They use substandard materials to build public structures but use foreign materials to build their residence. This goes to show that their mandate is to pursue their self interest and not the common good. Sadly, it is this mindset that makes our election a battlefield where politicians are not concerned about bloodshed as long as they can get into the corridor of power. Thus, politics is a dirty game in Nigeria.

They have no genuine love for the citizens in their hearts. It also shows that our democracy is no longer based on votes. Recently, during the local government elections held across the country, candidates were declared winners even before INEC officials could complete the voting process. That alone tells you everything you need to know. I sincerely wish Nigerians could vote for a political party that is neither APC nor PDP. Even the Labour Party doesn’t seem truly committed to representing the people's interests. If Omoyele Sowore eventually contests for president, I might vote for him. Otherwise, I would rather stay home and sleep on election day because it no longer feels like our votes count. May God spare our lives. One thing is certain: Baba Bola Tinubu is likely to win again, so let’s be prepared for it.

You started well, but you end up saying rubbish. this mentality of if not your preferred candidate then you are out is killing the democracy more. You are a young man, going home to sleep on election day because your candidate won't win is not a great ideas. You must learn how to have option, Omoyele sowore is not the only qualified candidate in Nigeria, they are other people you can cast your vote for and wait till the vote is counted. Nigeria democracy is in wrong hands, Tinubu who claimed to be a Democrat just nailed themself for declaring state of emergency in Rivers state, that declaration spoilt everything he ever stand against as an advocate. In the next election we must vote and stand by our votes, to stop rigging and vote buying. The only way we can stop Tinubu is to join the coalition and vote massively for a good candiate they will present.

Obviously evil persist in our democracy not because of those who mastermind the evil but because of those who watch evil happen. When citizens don't show up in an election because of the belief that it is already rigged, it makes the rigging even more easier for the riggers. Like you said, if citizen learn to come en masse to vote and defend their vote it becomes challenging for the riggers and more difficult to rig in an election. Even though our democracy is in shambles all hands must be on deck to ensure that we achieve the ideal democracy and this can only manifest when all citizens of voting age learn to exercise their civic duty of voting for a candidate in an election. Your candidate is the right candidate so it is always wise to vote for a candidate. Afterall, the fact that there are different candidates makes it an election.

That is what is expected from a good citizens, one must understand the habit of their leaders. And how they do things, you are right mate, once you conclude that your vote won't be counted that is where the rigging is. low voters make it easy to politicians to rig election, because they have to manipulate numbers to meet up the requirements, they will help you vote if you do not participate in an election. As a people we must change and start to hold government accountable by casting vote not only to protest. Nigerians are the worst set of citizens in the world, i keep telling people. We are good in critics only, our population should have been our strength to hold government accountable, but we rather stay on social media to abuse leaders everyday, instead for us to team up and vote them out during election.

Well as for me I don't think the coalition is going to work because if we take a look at the last election, electoral body which is inec has so many issues and excuses. I believe this next election is going to be transparent, the possibilities of APC winning election won't be there. So is not coalition that is the problem here , assuming this coalition even existed in the last election this issue would have still be there. All we need in Nigeria right is to get a good leader that will have the interest of the masses at heart and not just a set of people that is power drunk and is representing there selfish interest .

Bro, you don't know how deep this issue is. Maybe you are no longer on Nigerian soil. Recently, during the local government elections, I traveled to my local government area to support my candidate. Before the election process could even be concluded, all the APC chairmanship candidates were declared winners. It’s extremely discouraging and painful to witness something like that; to waste your time, effort, and money, only for your vote not to count. Hmm, it is easy to say on social media than done. I am talking from experience, I know what am saying and not lying. In all the 16 local government areas in my state, about 13 to 15 voted for PDP. Yet, APC was announced the winner across the board. It has gotten to the point where it feels like, "if you can't beat them, join them." After all, everyone can be paid ; there is enough money to go around. So why waste your time trying to fight or stand up to them? Even worse, the PDP candidates took them to court, but till today, there is no hope that justice will ever be served. Furthermore, Tinubu is like a smart virus; he controls the INEC chairman, he controls the Chief Judge of Nigeria, and he holds the power. Just name anything that could stop him; he has it in his pocket. You and I know that Nigerian elections are no longer real. I won’t even say too much, because most Nigerian youths are only fighting for their rights on Twitter and forums; in reality, you hardly see any of them on the ground taking action.

The dirty game of Nigeria politicians is alarming. Because we are not sure if the new ADC party will really help Nigeria to move forward, since the power is being recycled within themselves and is not tangible, so to say.
I will advice you not to put your trust in any Nigeria politicians because they would so disappoint you. We don't have sincere and God fearing leaders anymore in this country. The essence of this new coalition is to grab power only for theirs selfish interests and nothing more. If you look at the leadership and members of this new ADC coalition party, you will see that it is those same corrupt political leaders that left their previous party to form this coalition. I don't think this coalition was formed to solve and moved Nigeria forward. We pray for a better Nigeria.
Prayers won't help solved Nigeria problems in any way,we have been praying for decades and things keep getting worse day by day. God won't come down from heaven to solve Nigeria problems.

I'll rather keep a wild animal as pet than trust any Nigerian politicians, well few have been good in office but then I won't take back my statement concerning trust on them, Nigeria is a country with 90% heartless politicians and the rest 10% are struggling to do good for citizens cause the other evil ones are making their efforts a waste. Well, we the citizens are to be blamed cause we keep trusting criminals and men with bad intentions to go represent us in strategic positions and now it's quite difficult to change the system cause evil men are in control of every arms of government, the most annoying part is that most of our top religious leaders have been misled by those evil politicians that's why they'll ask you to pray instead of leading the way to fight corruption.

I see where you dey come from, and you make sense for some points, but e good make we look this matter well. See, we know say Africa politics get im own wahala, but to talk say politics clean for the West no go too correct. Even for Western countries, politicians dey use dirty tricks, dem dey use propaganda, big money influence, lobby groups, and sometimes dem dey even rig systems quietly wey no dey obvious like Africa own. For example, for US, big corporations dey sponsor politicians with heavy money to push their own agenda, na why dem dey talk say “money dey control politics.” We don see how media dey controlled to favour one candidate over another, and how some laws dey used to suppress votes in some areas. Even for UK, we see how Brexit campaign get plenty propaganda and misinformation wey later affect the country. Politics everywhere na power game, and sometimes the players dey bend the rules without breaking am outright, but e no mean say dem dey play am clean. E just mean say dem sabi hide the dirty parts pass the way e dey for Africa. I agree say politicians for Africa suppose respect rule of law, but make we no deceive ourselves say politics dey 100% clean for anywhere. Na why them call am a “dirty game” for many places, because behind the scene, plenty manipulation dey happen. No vex, I just dey share my own angle, and I still dey learn from you too.
