[Request] Politics child board for Local Pilipinas

I guess this is the right place to make this request, so here it goes.

Hopefully admin can consider granting this request. The reason I’m requesting Politics child board for Local Pilipinas is because I’ve noticed that most of the topics in our local board Pilipinas are related to Philippine politics. We all know why this request makes sense is to keep thread/post more organized. But the main reason I’m pushing for this is to provide a proper space where we can talk about what’s happening in our country, especially now that corruption in the Philippines has become so brutal. The amount being stolen from Philippine governtment is already billions of pesos.

I also understand that some local members might disagree or dislike this idea. One possible concern is that, if this board gets approved signatures might not show up and posts might not count toward signature campaigns. For me, that’s totally fine if they will hate me, I just genuinely want this board for the discussions, not for getting paid to post.

really needed us. We have been looking for a child board on our local board for a long time but unfortunately we have not seen anything like this yet. Currently, everything is posted randomly on our local board due to which important discussions are not easily found and it looks chaotic. Other local boards have separate child boards based on sectors which help in organizing their discussions. But there is no such system on our board. The main reason for this is that no child board application has been made for our local board before.

Child board is very necessary for us at the present time. It will have different topics related to Bitcoin and Crypto, Politics, etc. arranged in separate sections so that the discussions will be well-organized and easy for users to participate in. I hope the admins and moderators will consider the matter seriously and add a child board to our local board.

While it does involve politics, it does still talk about blockchain, bitcoin and crypto, which has been a bit of a hot topic these days because several lawmakers/government officials are trying to push blockchain to be used in the government. I knew someone would say this what you post. Yeah, the discussions are related to blockchain or Bitcoin, but in general the topic is really about politics. It is just blockchain or Bitcoin gets mentioned along the way.
If we had Politics child board and you posted it in the Pilipinas board, I’m sure Mr. Big would eventually move it to politics once that board exists. So for now that's okay. Good thing it’s not being moved to Off-topic child board.

But I think you’re right, because I remember there wasn’t an Off-topic section in Pilipinas local board before. As far as I know no one requested it.
I don't know if global moderators are also allowed to create child board.

A child board is indeed essential for organizing various topics that were initially jumbled together.

On the Indonesian local board, if I'm not mistaken, we also proposed adding a new subboard in 2023, and it was approved. However, before proposing the addition, we held a vote on the Indonesian board first, and we shared input on which subboards should be added and what they should be called.

This way, the proposed child board doesn't have to be just one, but several at once. This ensures that there's no need to request additional local child boards in the future.

And it's a good idea to first create a topic on your local board and ask all members there for their input on what child boards they might want added. We did this once, thanks to a user who initially asked about it in a topic (Mungkinkah untuk menambah Sub board lokal?. This led to voting, discussion, and ultimately, a consensus. We finally submitted it, and it was successful.

When I click at the Local board I saw "Others" which shows that any post that belongs to politics can easily be moved or posted over in that section till there are higher traction on a political discussions, although I don't know how often they discussed about politics but this would also need more moderator from their local board as the local board could be that large for one moderator to handle. However, it would be ideal that their already existing local mod takes this move.

At this point I'm not sure if you are asking a question or maybe you want a confirmation. You can clearly see from the thread subject as "request", he want political discussion to be separated from normal discussion. It's going to be tiring when you see Bitcoin discussion, economics and trading discussion are combine with Bitcoin discussion, though some of the polical discussions somehow relate with Bitcoin and I think that is why the moderators refused to move them to other subs board just like some suggesed above.

To OP, instead of bringing requests here, this thread should have been made there so you guys can collectively have an open discussion. I believed moderator will request it directly from Theymos instead of openly here. Moderators consideration will make it faster than you personally because Theymos is a busy person but I'm not sure he is going to be too busy to reply request of moderators that are working for him.

I understand your point though but a post can have Bitcoin in context but best fit a political child board. Something similar happened in my local board, one user complained about his topic being moved to politics childs board despite having crypto related content, if the key part of the post contains political ideas even connected to crypto discussion, it is best fit for the political board.

If they create a politics child board for 1 local, wouldn't it make sense to make 1 for all locals? Might just not be something that they feel is priority honestly. I always thought that all politics from all locals would be in politics and society board but that wouldn't be fair to those that don't speak English.

I had to look at the Philippines local board and I saw they have other boards which I think should be okay for now to move post's concerning politics there besides there are other boards on the Philippines local board and I believe they have a good number of active users hence their increased activities and from the looks a d based on OP request, seems the mostly have political discussions more than any other topics on their local board which makes it looks like there are more of political discussion threads than others.

However, appeal of this nature is supposed to be done by the local moderator as he oversees activities on the local board and knows what best fits the board at the moment but anyways since this thread has already been created  the moderator can support it if he wants to but Theymos has the final say to approve of it or not.

AFAIK, only admin can create new child boards.
We don't speak the local language, so it's difficult to assess whether or not a child board is necessary.

It is mostly not about having more boards, but are the boards necessary and serving the purpose it was created? Countries that have bad leaders are always interested in political discussions because this forum gives them the opportunity to bash their leaders.

We don't speak the local language, so it's difficult to assess whether or not a child board is necessary.

I think you've already made a good case for why we need one, given the political squabbles and corruption. Politics has become a favorite topic among Filipinos; we're so involved that it's a part of our daily lives. Everyone has an opinion on it.
In fact, it's hard to distinguish between a true Filipino; you will be marked as DDS, Kakampink, or a loyalist, depending on what party you belong to.

By setting, only the Administrator can do this; their login and their dashboard set them apart from all members, including global moderators, because they control everything.

I will not hate you and will even thank you for making this request. What's happening in our country is a concern of ours. We need a voice because it's our money, and our country is being plundered.
Whether the ads appear or not, we should voice our concerns. It's part of being a patriot. I hope your request will be granted.

I think child-board isn't necessary as of now considering the topics being made are definitely tackles one or two in regards to crypto and if by chance it should be politics focused, I think the "Others" board should be considered by the thread starters before creating a new topic. I think the current surge of topics that relates to politics was in regards to the current scandal of the flood-control projects and the issue was still a trend that's why people are motivated with these kind of topics. Though I get it that there will be more topics to be created in the future in regards to politics but as I've said it's not necessary for now I guess.

You should apply for a new local board for the Bengali community. The Bengali and Pakistani communities are now the most active local forum threads. It's even more active than some local boards. But the sad thing is, the community doesn't have a local board, and we have to stick in a one thread, and most of the important posts are buried under the others. So, I had to spend a long time preparing this
