Our elders always said that the more you run after money, the more money will go away. If you go against it, then money will follow you.
I always disliked that phrase. It makes you justify being lazy. I honestly think it was just used as a coping mechanism. There is no person I know who got rich "by accident", "randomly" without manifesting being rich, planning ahead and doing the planned work consistently. I have only met poor people who advised me against going after money. I have heard a similar phrase being used for meeting women; "she will one day appear in your life", as if I'm in a privileged character in a fairy tale who gets enjoy the good ending.
No, these things don't come like manna from heaven, and if you are lucky enough to get them easily, they usually don't last long in your life.
I guess that saying is just trying to indicate you shouldn't become too avid and anxious about anything, because it will end causing more damage than good. The same is valid for a romantic relationship. Do your part, but also let things happen naturally, in balanced way, otherwise the woman or man will feel pressured, concluding she/he should go away.
The problem is that we want everything for today, in our own time, but reality doesn't happen on our time. There are many factors and influences involved. And when we don't accept that fact, we end frustrated and even more anxious for not achieving what we wished for the day, month or year.
I agree there is no easy way and we have to try our best to reach where we want, but it's also necessary to be aware there are things out of our control, so there is no problem if you hope and dream about that good ending hitting you at some point, when you least expect.
