No one way is right or wrong. I use bitcoin and Bitcoin to distinguish between the system and software respectively.

That is interesting. To me "bitcoin" is one Bitcoin unit or the "currency". Rarely used like that because it means exactly 1 bitcoin. Usually "bitcoins" is used of course.

Bitcoin with the B is the technology. I don't differentiate between the technology and the software. The official software is either the Bitcoin wallet or the Satoshi wallet or whatever.
