I have a scrypt mining rig set up with a ASUS A88X-PRO mother board and 5 ASUS R9280X DC2T 3GD5 GPUs. In Win7 64bit device manager only 4 R9s are recognized and cgminer v3.7.2 recognizes GPU 0-3 (total count of 4). I tried shorting both x1 PCIe slots on the mother board as illustrated here:

Shorting the x1 slots did not work.

Please give me some suggestions. Thanks.

I would jump on win8 for this option. Two win8 machines would save you from having three win7 machines. Not bad.
