Try this

Backup wallet.dat to safe place. Uninstall Bitcoin. Delete Bitcoin directory from Users/<Username>/AppData/Roaming/Bitcoin and install Bitcoin again. Copy the wallet.dat back in place.

I think it is broken just read the armory thread (did you uninstall the old version?)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522866.msg5792898#msg5792898
Think you need to quit armory then restart it from the task manager.

Sorry not very familiar with Armory you might want to ask their support
https://bitcoinarmory.com:8443/

Try this though
https://bitcoinarmory.com/download/troubleshooting/

If there is no balance this may work
While Armory is still in Beta, there are still some subtle bugs that cause Armory to misbehave on systems. Armory developers are always working to fix these problems, but it usually requires a bug report submitted from Armory, or you can open a support ticket so we're aware of the problem and can try to fix it. One thing you can try, is to go into the start menu and find the entry for “Armory Bitcoin Client”. Click on the option that says “Armory (offline)”. This will load Armory without most of the operations that cause loading problems. Once that is open, you can go to “Help”–>”Revert All Settings”. This is effectively a “factory reset” of Armory to the state it was in before the first time you used it.

I have balance

In that case would recommend asking etotheipi the answer to this question
Don't want to make a mistake for you so best be careful
Can send him a message here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=31239

Goatpig is an armory dev as well he could help
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=7811

(One more idea though)
You can rerun the installer and choose "Repair Installation".
If it finds the problem it should fix it. (Unless your virus scanner destroyed it)

Or ask in this discussion thread from someone who knows more about it they may be able to help
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=56424.3840

Sorry I wasn't very helpful on this.

Edit: I did see that the bug says WERInternalMetadata.xml not sure what this does but maybe this is the problem

Do you think this is something with armory or something completely different? I am thinking of just switching to Electrum.

I have balance

First make sure that u get hold of the private keys of your addresses with balance. Once u have them ...then go for other repairing and all, coz even if the whole thing breaks down, your balance will stay safe.

Do you have backup of all private keys for your wallet?

If not, it would be a problem.

Can I find these addresses in the armory files inside of my appdata folder?
