like the title says because it can be hard to find a post that you posted without going into profile show all posts.

That would actually be a good idea. I often see newbs create the exact same thread in the same sub after their post has been moved (must just think it's disappeared or something).

If you enable email notifications for a topic, you will be emailed if it gets moved.

Doesn't all the moved topics appear in gray as MOVED: <topic tittle> at least for a while?

No. If moderator selects "Post a redirection topic." you can see Moved: thread. I rarely use that feature.

People should not be posting a new thread without requesting the thread be watched or notified in some fashion. If they don't think their own post is important enough to watch the replies of then it begs the question why they posted it in the first place.

If a post has no replies, I move the thread without a redirection notice. The MOVED with redirection has the side effect of bumping the post and if it was in the wrong section to begin with we end up with lots of bumped offtopic posts. If people have started replying on that thread then I use the MOVED with redirection notice feature since people may have responded without deciding on whether they wish to watch the topic or not, but won't know where to look when they return to that section.

using the watch list would only be good if you oath wise want to watch it. However if you want to casually monitor and potentially reply to it then this would not be the best solution.

Why not? You click watchlist, you see someone has posted a reply (the casually monitor part) and can decide if you want to read it now (click on it) or not (do not click on it). If you read the new replys you can still decide if you want to answer or not. And even if no new replies came in since you last checked and now want to answer you can still find the thread under Watchlist -> Edit Watchlist.

I dont see how going to the subboard in question and searching the x first pages for the thread is better.

Also OP asked about topics started, which are automatically on your watchlist and have to be manually removed.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.
