Bi-Fury 5Gh/s USB ASIC - flashing lights?

I have 6 of these ASICs... all of them display a solid green light when plugged in, but I have observed that 3 of them have a red flashing led and 3 don't!

Does anyone know the significance of the flashing red light? Does it indicate a problem, or does it simply mean that the chip is mining...?

Also, why would half of them do it, but the other half not?!?

I thought it might be a firmware thing, but to date, I have been unable to update the firmware, as shorting the two pads and plugging in does not appear to work for me... I get a solid green light every time (same for all chips). Apparently, the green light should stay off when shorting the pads and plugging in..

Any ideas folks?

(BTW, these are fantastic little devices - my 6 are hashing at 30.64 Gh/s at the moment, so I know they are all working ok!)

It flashes every time it finds a diff1 share. It means it's mining fine. Older firmwares did not flash with each share but if they're still hashing okay for you it's no problem.

Does this mean that 3 of my ASICs have older firmware? - Any idea why my ASICs won't go into disk mode when I short the contacts while plugging in?
I am using Windows 8 with the WinUSB drivers provided by Zadig.

The green LED comes on as soon as I plug it in. As I understand it, it should remain un-lit? I have tried various metal objects and wire to short the two contacts, but no luck with any of them... I am making sure I keep the contacts closed while plugging in and also I am leaving the contacts closed for quite a few seconds... every time, the green LED comes on immediately.

I have two of them the one with the old firmware and the light is always green or red but it works great.

Problem solved! When shorting the contacts, I needed to 'dig in' to the solder a bit to get a good contact.
All 6 devices now have the latest firmware and all flashing the red 'diff1 solved' LED :-)
