Hey all, I just got a 7970 and wanted to set it up for bitcoin while im not gaming.  Now the issue is, even at stock clock (925) and lower memory clock (700) as soon as I start mining with either phoenix or cgminer, either the video crashes and doesn't mine, or my system reboots... Is this because I am using the ATI overdrive?  Also, temps only ever get as high as 73 before crashing...

Does it crash in games as well?

Ah jeez sorry, Windows 7 Enterprise x64, AMD 12.3.  I thought I upgraded to 12.4, but CCC still says 12.3.  Maybe that's my problem?

I have tried various cmd switches, but the last one I used that produced the same results was: -I 9 -k poclbm
Diablo was -v 1 -w 256

Haha, I havent tried in games yet....

Happens with me too, works fine in-game playing on BF3 for 8+ hours, but crashes in 10 minutes bitmining. I even tried understocked to the lowest and it still does it.

So, I uninstalled my ATI drivers and reinstalled using the 12.4 driver and it still shows as 12.3 in CCC...

Ok, so now I even uninstalled with driversweeper and reinstalled and it still shows up as 12.3 in CCC.  And, it still crashes.  Should I up the voltage a little?

This run with my 7970 I raised my fans to 90 and it bitcoined fine. So I'm guessing that the crashing was due to high temps skyrocketing. Finally it works, but the noisy fan is kind of annoying especially using an XFX Double Fan card. See if this works by raising fan speed.

Your Oc is maybe too much... It depends from card to card how will it overclock... increase voltage.

Card is stock settings which should be stable so there is no "OC".

Yeah under stock it still crashes, even playing games.  I tried raising the fan to 95% and it still crashes, albeit it took a little bit longer (20 seconds as opposed to 10).  I guess I just have to RMA the card.

Mixed components from different drivers scattered on the totally fucked way windows installs software would cause this. Try really hard to uninstall, and steer clear of 12.4 as that's a dud driver as well.
