No mechanism will stop a crime on the forum...

Yeah, people are getting smarter more and more

what mechanisms should here have to prevent criminal actions?

If you mean like terorism or drugs seller, then it would be a tough being prevent since using bitcoin as transaction is fully anonymous.
Some country is not making any law for using bitcoin, so that hole can be used from crime

So something like phone verification is not necessary to  prevent crime and fraud and scamming?
you mean phone verification for entering or signing up in this forum?!
it is not a good idea. since many people wouldn't like it and no one is willing to give out much personal information to public.
besides whatever they do, scammers always find a way to scam, so you have to be careful yourself.
Yes, that may not be that much well but it was just a recommendation, maybe using escrow is the best.
well, as i said people are not willing to give out their phone number to any website. as the recent hack proved, it is susceptible to hack and email addresses was leaked, think what would have happened if it were phone numbers.
using escrow is the best way you can find to secure your trades with someone you dont know.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.

And if you shot the villain, you did a crime too.

But that's the best way to prevent crime I guess if we use that responsibly  Cool
You can use the tear gas as the safer tool.

I am meaning the forum to prevent scammers do scams or selling hacked accounts, stolen, digital and/or physical goods and anything that you may consider as a crime and the forum has some bugs. In fact you may have some recommendations for forum admin to make here a better place.

The rules should be revised to prevent these and since scams aren't moderated, the forum will always lack security. Escrow is an option to be safe but newbies can easily be trapped if they use an unknown escrow another member recommends and cases have been reported here.

The main issue is that people here prefer buying stolen goods as the price is cheap (15% the face value) and when there are such customers, how can these good be avoided from being sold here?

Gambling too needs to be stopped and the ability to create multiple accounts which increases the chances of getting scammed. Moderators manually verifying accounts or having a newbie jail (which existed earlier) can be an option too.

Having a mobile verification feature is being considered by the forum admin but only for the new forum that's going to be launched and not for this forum. I guess the new forum will be much more safer than this one.  Smiley

Those newbies should have some common sense to realise that they can be stolen goods. They can't be moderated as proofs are needed.

Multiple accounts is fine IMO. No one who is really trusted would be selling their account IMO. And if it happens, the password would definitely be changed and if the account starts being active after a period of inactiveness, members would rise a red flag. Gambling is allowed in certain countries and the forum isn't opening a gambling site so its alright.

The recent hack was caused by social engineering. No amount of protection could have 100% prevented this unless it is hosted by theymos himself.
