Can I move my blockchain data to external hard drive and get QT to read it MAC

Hello, My mac is running out of space and having the blockchain stored on it is no longer an option. Is it possible to get bitcoin-qt to read/write blocks to an external hard drive? I'm using a mac by the way. Thank you.
