Put Stocks in your notifications dock and add the symbols:
BTCUSD=X
BTC=X
^NYXBT

Honestly, there is an easier way to keep track of btc prices rather than doing this (also a potential way of making some btc in the process as well).  I'm not sure if it's well known on this forum or not, but the app "spark profit" allows you to keep track of a handful of currencies, currency exchange rates, and commodities (including bitcoin).  How it works is a handful of big time investors put in money for a weekly pot (right now around $3,200) and people earn and invest "points" to gain more points, which will then enable them to potentially win for that week.  You can "cash out" once you hit $30.00 worth winnings, and you can choose the ability to get paid in bitcoin.

To get back to the bitcoin ticker thing, they have a live ticker on there that keeps track of the current btcusd rates, as well as all the other commodities/currencies they offer.
