hello!

i mine around 7Ghash, 3,22of which on slush's

tested some pools and decided slush's the best - low fees, pays tx, super low stales thx to stratum.
but...  just now i realized i was stupid, slush's pool has some big big problems

1 no forum, this thing here is a joke, one topic and.... YOU CAN'T POST ON IT!! thats called mesageboard not a forum.
2 no support whatsoever , no contact, no way to interact with other miners - irc channel is dead, no response from any one
3 score system is EXTREMELY unfair - it gives away much more of the shorter, lukcy ones , blocks to non-stratum workers.

here is why
3.22 GHash rig and it should solve about one in every 875 shares in all of slush's power, and in long, bad luck blocks, it does
the shorter, luckier block, the less percentage is for me
for very short i get nothing
non stratum workers submit work more frequently - stealing all the coins

with stratum and getwork combined it cant be that system, it cant be limited to one block, it has to be last N shares

and i can't even say it to no one, this is last call , I'll wait 24hrs and I'll start campaining anti-slush on al working forums i know - every body can check for themselves that it's true.

I can't believe people still pay fees to pools, why isn't everyone using p2pool, or one of the various no-fee, tx paying, super low stale p2pool nodes?

because it's not a real pool. you can't just change settings of your miners. imagine : 12 machines, 3 places, different systems - xp32, w7 32, w7 64, bamt, ubuntu.  changing to polmine or bitminter is like 20-30 minutes just add some workers, paste new setups and its done. p2pool... in 30 minutes if im lucky I'll be ready to start after reading some stuff. p2pool is early beta. it will never leave this stage without easy one click precompiled .zip with gui.

Just setup one machine as a P2Pool relay node and then you can use that as a normal pool for the rest of your miners, or if you don't want to do that, connect to someone elses node, bitpop had a fee-free tx-paying node a while ago that was hosted on amazon cloud & had amazing connectivity & uptime,  not sure if he's still running it though.

This is actually easier than using a normal pool as you don't even need to setup workers or even an account at the pool, just use your BTC address as your username and your done.

sounds awesome, but is not.

home pc is not reliable - downtime will eat all the gains of a non-fee pool.
and nodes even worse, if it dies when you are away? loses can be huge.

nothing beats good, 99,9% online , fast, low stales ,low fee pool in practice - simply because of my fault, i can't be always lookning in the monitor 24/7. and neither can You.

what i want is just for slush to correct this systm of reward wchich is unfair as hell and that's all. I'll gladly pay 2% , it pays off for me.

So, then setup slush as a backup pool on your miners? most mining applications support this (cgminer for one).

Slush has been using this reward system for years now, I don't think he has any plans to change it even though it is slightly unfair by design.

xorxor, I have a simple answer for all your troubles: if you don't like some pool, DON'T USE IT!

personally I like slush's pool, because I have significantly less hash power than you and I only do some mining for fun and to understand the system a bit more ... and the score based system is sometimes very good for me Wink ... and believe me, none of you people will do mining for long time, bitcoin's futre is something else, not mining  Cool

ok, i just got almost 2 times my normal payout for ultra fast block, which means in long run slush score may be actually ok. maybe i was just extremely unlucky geting a beating in last 10 quick blocks, but understand me, 10 fast blocks in a row below average payout is 1/1024 chance, so i still think its propably a little unfair for stratum'ers

Blazr:
ok, that looks fine, but :
-i heard there a lot of stales in p2pool - so using it as a base is.. uneficient
-slush cant be a backup - stupid score system is good only in stable nonstop mining, everyone who will get there just as a backup from time to time - will get ripped off to the bone

and247:
well , me actually just like You, but gone a little bit to far Smiley i allways go all in .  I  mine for fun and to understand the system, and I know none of us will do mining for long time, that te bitcoin's futre is something else, not mining.

and i did just that : i just  moved to bitminter - only voluntary donations, no fees, and also superb les than 0.1% stal's and normal stable fair system.
