It's not about adopting, but studying how to use anything from the structure of the blockchain.
Also note that they don't ever mention "hey let's use Bitcoin", they want control and not a open ledger.

then i don't see the point for them to even work on a centralized blockchain, what real advantages can a centralized bring, that a cluster server can not? besides being more organized and transparent

i'm not buying the whole bullshit about cost and time, their cost are minimum right now with a cluster server instead of running node for another blockchain, it would be the same

I think that like the reason the very first net was born, is the reason for using the blockchain: descentralization, have the same information on multiples servers all over the place. Server down? No worries, connect to this server and everything is OK. When that server come up running again, it will recover all the data his is behin of the network and everything will run OK.

imagine it for passports..

each immigration/passport agency around the world has key's to add data, when people apply for a passport... so its a world wide passport network
its these agencies that work as miners too..

now then, all new passports are basically a transaction ID.. where the transaction does not contain tokens of value(coins). but some other information useful to passport control offices.
EG
not { Value : 12345sat }
but { D.O.B: "23-02-1980", gender : "male", }

now imagine each airport no longer needs highly secured databases and highly trained IT staff to maintain the airports databases.. they simply access the passport blockexplorer website. and scan QR codes on the passports into the blockexplorer.

the "other information" can be anything.

now imagine that by moving the data from one key belonging to america, to a address belonging to UK.. any passport office can see where the people are in the world which helps track immigration, over-stayers, etc..

all without every airport/embassy needing highly expensive security.. just a web browser

How do you see them keeping those keys a secret? The corruption in most countries on government levels are out of control and private keys will very easily be sold for the

right price. I guess one way to solve this will be the same way banks are doing it, with multi sig solutions. The different implementations will be very interesting to see and

also what kind of applications will be developed to manage this. There is so much untapped potential in using the Blockchain.

Their only interested into learning Blockchain system and eventually use it for governments works and not going steps towards crypto currencies themselves as they would surely want to be able to tweak it a bit so in the end, they still have some control over it as opposed to what it is now and their not the only one as many (other governments) have shown interests as well.

imagine america owns
1EmericaBlahBlahBlah

the private key is a multisig.
imagine that several agencies who form part of the passport administration team.. EG passport control. embassy, births deaths and marriage department, homeland security..

they all have  key each. and a new passport txid is not created unless all agencies sign off that the data held within that tx is valid..
that way a nefarious employee at the passport office will find their single key is useless.. as it requires the combination to work

then imagine north korea having
1N0rThK0r3aBlahBlahBlah

and that too is a multisig

i think you get the picture.

They are not hiring..
They are trying to study about crypto..
And they are also trying to take governmental control on this..
But as everyone knows.. not any government can take control over it..

They have no choice but to look into it and once it gets its foot in the door it will spread like wild fire.  Centralized versions will prove more costly and perform worse. Maybe it will take our lifetimes but we'll be a fully decentralized society at some point.

the government are NOT looking into it to create "monetary tokens" (coins).. they are looking into it for data security..
EG passport ID
EG national insurance ID
EG medical patient ID

just blockchain.. and not an altcoin either as its NOT to do with token(coin) measure of value.. but data and unique identifiers

basically its about decentralized database data

Haha exactly.  Why would they want a blockchain of their own.  This endless news of banks embracing the "blockchain" is hilarious.  Time for someone to come out and announce that the Blockchain is dead..including an elaborate essay of why.

I love Bitcoin

because its not about financial value..
its about data..
and bitcoin doesnt have any variables/namespaces for things like date of birth, social security numbers, medical record numbers etc

The blockchain technology will be great for the health system like NHS where the data will be permanently shared and visible across the whole network ad can't be tampered with. You can literally carry around your medical records on your phone.
