Right now with the rise of VPS shops, I'd like to know what a VPS can do and how you do it.

I heard it can host nodes and that they can be used to decrypt packed files (ZIP, RAR, etc.). Is this true and are there any more uses of a VPS besides site and data hosting?

you can use it as remote desktop, good for traffic exchanges like hitleap, downloading and seeding torrents, setting up private VPN, proxy..etc

You can run your own applications or resource intensive scripts that a standard shared environment can't handle. However, your VPS consists of not only disk space and bandwidth but also the CPU share it has as well as memory (RAM). These specifications set the limits of what you'll be able to do on your VPS.

It could be used to run the nodes to support some specific coins' network. For pos or dpos coins, you could earn some extra coins.

Currently I'm using Imacros and AutoIT for scraping. It is very easy to use. Once you have your custom script. Install it on your vps and run it as long as you like.
