I am jeep trekking through Iceland this week and hiding a bitcoin geo-cache. Stay tuned next week for clues to find the prize.
Yes, it's for real.
I'm guessing that the value of the cache itself isn't enough to justify me running out and purchasing a flight from Chicago. Sound fun though. I may think about hiding a bitcoin funded geo-cache somewhere here in Illinois just for the fun of it.
Most likely not. But with or without Bitcoin geo cache Iceland is definitely worth a visit. If you love nature and are not the beach type tourist, you will be enchanted. You can take the road trip on the circular road around the island, with many points of interest nearby (waterfalls, hot springs). It's perfect for hiking as well. If you want to visit the inner region, you should prepare yourself well though (all-terain vehicle needed, supplies, pay attention to weather conditions...).
It has been quite a few years since I visited Iceland - it was before the banking crisis and it was quite expensive. For me it was still a great vacation and I can only recommend it. I think due to the devaluation of their currency you can now get around a bit cheaper. And in case you find the geocache...
