I have all of my info and private key that is "encrypted".  I can log into my Carbon Wallet account however they (site) says it is so secure that my 6word Passphrase is needed to transfer my funds.  Well, I have (again) ALL of my info including my single private key (encrypted) that will need decrypting.

Please help and I will gladly take care of you.  Promise.  This is out on the forum here.

I am not computer savvy at all.  I don't know how to follow these commands/steps https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=import%20private%20key%20bitcoin

Please, PLEASE HELP.  NOTE: I also have what's called my "Public Key generated in browser".

Thank you -- Jeff

1. i have never heard about carbon wallet before. who told you to register and keep your hard earned bits on that site ? there are many other secured, known and reputable wallets like electrum, mycelium, etc. why didn't you go for these wallets ?
2. if you have all the info , then why dont you put your 6word passphrase and spend the funds from your carbon wallet ?
3. i think unless you dont have the password for the private key, you cannot decrypt it.
4. there is a possibility that the carbon wallet owner may have provided you with any random words  instead of a real private key.

Hello, as I understand you have wallet on carbonwallet.com and want to recover it, isn't it? I found Carbon Wallet recovery tool in github and I'll link it to you, maybe it will help you but don't know, also must view source code.
Here it's: http://onchain.github.io/wallet-recovery/

Also try to contact Carbon Wallet's administrator, hope they will help you when they'll know your identify. I can't say more about that, I tried my best to found information for you and when you choose high security, than remember everything, wish you success.

Thank you Edwardard.  I have the real private key (it is an encrypted private key of alphanumeric #s).  Apparently that translates into the original 6word phrase that their own system glitched and neither I or their tech can uncover/recover Sad

And also I appreciate your help shield132.  That recovery tool link you sent (I have been on that) but thank you.  I can fill out ALL of the info that requested like 6 of the total 7 entries it asks for...except for the backup passphrase to my private key.

Now, IF I have my alphanumeric, actual private key can't I go here to retrieve?  Does anybody understand the computer lingo and what they are asking for here?  Here is the link https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=import%20private%20key%20bitcoin apparently releasing a private key out in the open a dangerous way to lose bitcoins...but I have it knowingly and legitimately (my private key) and cannot access my own bitcoins.

Anybody?

Thanks for any further development with this.

Try downloading electrum and import it.  To import your private key in electrum choose "Restore a wallet or import keys" and "Standard wallet" and enter your private key.

Trusted an exchange that climbed to the top 3 in just under 2 years with your money? you are fucking stupid.

so you have the private key?

in that case you're fine. you can sweep it into another wallet.

you probably don't want to use the official bitcoin wallet as that's gonna involve a huge download.

use electrum and you're golden. it's better to sweep than import.
