You fail to state the most important part... the reason WHY I said collecting stamps is a religion. And you also failed to state what I said that it may not be a religion, but simply a part of your religion.
Apparently the sentence "Sure, in the same way that it's a hobby of mine not to collect stamps" was too complicated for you to understand, or you would have realized why your argument is irrelevant.

Theism and religion are two different things; it's quite possible to have one or the other, or both, or neither:

ReligiousIrreligious
TheisticJudaism
Christianity
Islam
Theistic Hinduism*
Shinto
Sikhism
Wicca
Zoroastrianism
Deism
AtheisticBuddhism
Atheistic Hinduism*
Jainism
Satanism
Taoism
Irreligious Atheism
Agnosticism
Humanism
Antitheism
*Hinduism is, I think, unique among religions in that it doesn't require its followers to actually believe in its gods.

How do the various atheistic religions fit in with BADlogic's claim that atheism is a religion? Are they merely different sects of the same religion? In the same way Christianity and Sikhism are sects of the same religion, as they're both monotheistic? Roll Eyes

Agnostic is the stance that one does not know if God does or doesn't exist and refraining from a conclusion one way or the other. I respect this way more than I do either side of the faith/atheism debate. At least they have the sense to admit they don't know. Everyone else is operating under a belief system which is indistinguishable from religion because they are making conclusions about things that can not be proven either way.

It seems to me that no matter one believes in God or not, the main thing to live by conviction and not hurt others who does not think like him.

Those who call themselves agnostics are often just atheists who want to be friends with everybody. The rational way to think is to draw conclusions based on the best available evidence. When there is no evidence for something that can't be better explained in other ways then there is no reason to believe in it. Hence the Russell's teapot example.

Atheist were the most intelligent and the most superior class according to them.  But because of their high intellects they cause them to lose their own life because of losing their purpose and values.  Yes, we can conclude that it is almost a religion because in the course of time they become many.  I am not against them, anyways, we have to respect each others belief.

No. We should NOT respect other people's beliefs. Respect other people because they are people.

It is heard now and again, that in WW2 when common American and German soldiers were in the trenches, not far from each other, that they often talked and joked with each other. They respected each other as people and as soldiers. But they were ready to kill each other at any moment, because they didn't respect the beliefs of the other.

Cool
