Hello all,

I'm a newbie so I'm posting my question here Smiley even though it belongs to hardware.

I already have a pc with an ati 5970 running win7 (but have no issue to switch to ubuntu).

I wanna buy an 6990 to boost my bitcoin mining on the same pc. Mobo supports 3xPCIExpress16 so no issue there.

I know crossfire will not work. But will I be able to mine separately from both cards?

Thank you!

Yes. But your case will heat up to hellish levels.

If that's the only issue than it's ok....have no box and I also have my a/c pointing right to the mobo  Grin.

So ati driver will just find both cards? Is that it?

Does anyone actually works with different ati tech cards on same pc and can verify that they can work?

It would be good to know before buying the 6990.

Thanks a lot.

Yes. You can use different cards on the same motherboard. They just won't work using crossfire.
