Hello all! I am posting because I had a similar issue as in this thread.

The error:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 7.98 GB
Name AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
Adapter Type AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x673E), Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. compatible

At the time I was getting this error I had Catalyst 13.4 installed. I attempted to uninstall 13.4 and install Catalyst version 11.11, as suggested in
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=156476.0. This did not solve the problem, and GUIminer would not open. I then uninstalled the 11.11 drivers, and used DriverFusion to remove all of the driver files.
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion. Once I had removed the files, I then installed Catalyst 12.10 and basically all was well.
Here is my current setup on win7 ultimate 64 bit with a really old radeon HD6700
