When governments realize they cannot really do anything to stop bitcoin for real, they try all sort of other things , like this one, putting mud on bitcoin and telling people to not use it as an investment instrument. In fact bitcoin nowadays is the best investment anyone can make and it allows anyone to take part, even if this is not like by many governments. Bitcoin can only be stopped when internet will cease to exist.

What's so surprising? Amazing to me that some people believe what ever the government of any country will agree to accept the cryptocurrency. The maximum that you can count on is the recognition of bitcoin a means of payment and the taxation of income from cryptocurrency. In this case the tax would be forced to pay in local currency.

That doesn't make any sense. But what if I want to invest in it because I know it's being used for recreational stuff like accessing porn sites are for buying drugs from Alphabay?

If they catch you using Alphabay in Russia you risk to go to jail. TOR browser users there are very careful and disable flash plugins, javascripts and do a bit of tweaks in the settings by typing in the address bar "about:config" and then only true hardcore users of TOR know which options to disable and which to enable so they cannot be tracked by the government. Remember the person who created Blue Whale was just arrested a few weeks ago so in Russia the cybernetics cops are very strong. Better stay away from Alphabay if you live in Russia.

does anyone listen to bankers anyway?

they've had zero impact on my life so far apart from when they called me up to abuse me for going overdrawn.

anyone who does a little crypto research will realise no banker has said one positive thing since it was less than a dollar. that's a good incentive to get involved.

Well that's sad to hear but Russians say a no it means a no, doesn't make any sense arguing it, but what I last remember was that they were planning to introduce their own crypto to take over bitcoin and they had rejected Bitcoins, so I am not totally surprised by this decision. Russians were never to keen on Bitcoins. But I don't think it will effect the price of Bitcoins in anyway, but it may effect just the Russians.

It seems to me that it's easier not to break the law in any country where you are. Why do you need it? No TOR will not protect you from surveillance. Browsers this imaginary security. For Mac address you calculate always and everywhere. This is expensive technology, but the state can afford it.
