Wow, it appears Junior Member whistle11 may be trying to scam us and "Yellen's Bitcoin Guy", the guy who held up the Buy Bitcoin sign behind Janet Yellen on 12 July.

Yellen's Bitcoin Guy posted a picture after the hearing showing the sign and his bitcoin address. Here's a thread post about it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2017003.msg20100211#msg20100211

whistle11 posted the picture but it appears s/he photo shopped the bitcoin address, presumably to his own. Here's the thread post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2017003.msg20100075#msg20100075

Potential scam image - notice the evidence of image manipulation around the BTC address and (obviously) the different address!

I believe whistle11 needs to respond to this and explain why the picture s/he posted is different from others!

Credit to noticing the potential scam goes to member TryNinja, good work!

Actually,if you look at it,said scammer only shared the picture which he claims he got from some telegram channel. That might be true since the main scammer would have circulated an edited picture around.
Unless we have a concrete proof that the edited address belongs to him,we can't really jump to the conclusions, can we ?
Negative is justified, hope the accused comes clean.

No, we should. If you don't have a solid grasp on reality and can't even tell that a simple picture is edited then certainly an optometrist is in order. By sending out an edited image, it indirectly helps the manipulator, whether it was whistle11 or some other person.

You can't be absolved of blame because you didn't create the image. If one perpetuates a scam by broadcasting it publicly, then they are also to blame for the consequences of the scam. Think ponzis as an analogy: you wouldn't be absolved of blame were you to advertise a ponzi, would you?

Normally people post a link, they don't go through the trouble to save the photo to imgr and then upload it AND THEN delete NOT only their post but the imgr as well?

Furthermore, your responses to said allegations.

I believe this was you altering the photo. IF this photo was posted for a group, it would exist on the net some where.  But, it's only from the imgr you posted.

Is this your address? Because the address from the original picture is "1GwtZF9QFKWNqCRHLx1Y9adGcrhQSUnNfY".
Are you really photoshopping your own address to try to make a few bucks? That's what scammers do.

 Huh where the original picture?
I just edited my previous post with the original picture.
I hope you just made a mistake and got the fake picture from the real scammer without knowing you were sharing the wrong one.

but it is a simply qr, where is the original pic? i got it in a telegram channel

Not defending whistle11, but if an image was uploaded to Telegram, it's indeed very possible for whistle to have taken a screenshot/photo to upload to (not imgr) tinypic such that BCT members can view it.

In this case, it's not necessarily guaranteed that whistle11 was the original provider of the image but it's probable. Either way, as I've said previously, they should certainly not be absolved of any blame and deserve the negative feedback.

Removing it doesn't change the fact that it was posted in the first place with either negligence or ill intent: the negative will likely stay indefinitely.

I don't see any posts from whistle11 explaining any mistake or confusion for the reason why s/he posted the false picture to begin with.

Deleting the post does little if it doesn't come with an explanation.

Crazy? False feedback? That's definitely appropriate behavior considering that:
a) You are either the scammer who created the fake imagine.
b) You are complicit by helping the scammer share his fake image.

lol you made a fake image by replacing another address with a QR code like a pre school kid learning how to do painting for the first time then coming here saying what baby I don't know who's the father? do you think of this community as fools just born without any experience like this one?

Lauda I think he may made a mistake not take this as a scam attempt he seem to be sharing something he saw and never said was he's own address there before he already deleted it, the image shared from OP spreads more I guess.

Did you even get my point ? I never said the picture is not edited, leave that to a 12 year old and he'd make that out too.I said the edited address shouldn't necessarily belong to the one who shared the picture.

By sending out an edited image, it indirectly helps the manipulator, whether it was whistle11 or some other person.
Yes but what if the sharer is dumb enough to not make out that it is probably edited ?

You can't be absolved of blame because you didn't create the image. If one perpetuates a scam by broadcasting it publicly, then they are also to blame for the consequences of the scam. Think ponzis as an analogy: you wouldn't be absolved of blame were you to advertise a ponzi, would you?
Yeah but what if does it unknowingly ? Maybe he's too naive to know that someone can actually edit that image and use people like him to share it around.

the image not has been upload for me, has been deleted because in tinypic if you report the image 2 times is automatically deleted.

It's sad that a lot of people here have too much time to judge..

Well, now you're lying. You said you found the image on some telegram channel and now tinypic ? Okay,so someone might have uploaded the image on tinypic and shared the link on telegram a day back ? Can you screenshot that message from telegram ? You obviously would have that in the chats.

Makes sense.I don't know what to make out of it but that  does as a proof that it wasn't your address which was edited.Although I wouldn't give you a negative feedback considering it as a mistake but it's subjective.

A scammer would do EXACTLY as you have done, here let me point it out since its almost all here:

1-You post a pic with the different address and say -haha.. next rich man
2-When it is noticed by TryNinja and questions come-you try to DEFLECT it with-where is original pic?? but it is a simply qr, where is the original pic? i got it in a telegram channel; maybe it's your address?  and then you quote and +1 a senseless comment by what I can only assume is your pal AND somewhere in there you say how you deleted it
3-Now you are BACK peddling and trying to show "proof" 1, there is nothing in that screenshot that does you any good, IF anything just digs you a deeper hole.

Let me tell you how a NON scammer would do it:

At the MOMENT TryNinja called it...........the answer would be:  I got the photo from here (and your link would be presented as you have tried to do so here ONLY after realizing this shit is real and people are watching)

Since there are thousands of scamming accounts, all screaming the same, we all try our best to HELP the community and take the time to nip a scam/scammer in the bud.

I'm sure scamming use to be a lot easier here.  However, people are just TIRED of it and trying to do something about it.  The only screams I hear are from scammers  Roll Eyes

You remind me of this guy https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2014412.0 who tried to scam and it was blown to hell, just like your scam attempt.

I will join Lauda and leave appropriate feedback linking to this thread and it will allow others (hopefully) to determine whether or not they would trust you.

I certainly do not based on the information presented. Everyone is free to make their own choices, just as you did with that photoshopped pic.

Edit to add:  I forgot to add the other BS that prompted me to put my time in this. NO that's not true about reporting it 2x and it's automatically deleted. YOU deleted it from YOUR account @imgr

You are a liar and you tried to scam that's all there is to say about you.

You haven't explained anything regarding why you posted the picture you did.

Was it an honest mistake or were you trying to scam the community?

I started this thread to (1) announce the potential scam first identified by TryNinja and (2) give you an opportunity to explain your side.

You've made three posts in this thread in the past 24 hours and not one of them is an explanation of why you posted that picture (nor an apology for potential confusion if you just made an honest mistake.)

It feels like the scam accusation was warranted. Locking this thread because you've had your opportunity to speak and you have nothing to say.
