I was recently referred to the linxcoin distribution as an easy method to get Linux mining up and running.

I have downloaded the 0.2a distro and flashed it to a USB stick with unetbootin and tried booting. The distro kernel hangs during loading with a black screen. The keyboard lights will not change state. Locked solid.

Tried burning the image to a DVD and booting that. Same problem.

The same machine runs Ubuntu, Win 7 x64, and anything else I through at it.

Here's the specs on the box...

Code:
  > Mainboard : MSI 890FXA-GD70 (MS-7640)
  > Chipset : RD890 single slot GFX Hydra
  > Processor : AMD Phenom II X6 1100T @ 3400 MHz
  > Physical Memory : 8192 MB
  > Video Card : AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series
  > Hard Disk : WDC (640 GB)
  > DVD-Rom Drive : AJSHQFU 27O5E7CTER8 SCSI CdRom Device
  > DVD-Rom Drive : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M ATA Device
  > Monitor Type : iH282 - 27 inches
  > Monitor Type : Unspecified
  > Monitor Type : Unspecified
  > Network Card :  RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
  > Network Card :  RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
  > Operating System : Windows 7 Ultimate Professional 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 (x64)
  > DirectX : Version 11.00
  > Windows Performance Index : 5.9 on 7.9

Anyone have any idea why this wont boot?

I was able to get it to boot and run.

The problem was that I had enabled the IOMMU setting in my BIOS and that was causing the hang.

I had enabled this setting after installing ubuntu on the box. I realized that some of the BIOS settings were the cause of the issue when I tried to boot from an ubuntu install disk and that locked up too.

Glad you got it fixed. Maybe I'll use this, if I ever convince my dad to make a whole new system for mining lol
