Help needed - establishment of nominal price of a token

Hi guys, I need help.

I want to establish base value of the token o 40 USD, while some people say that the price of a single token should be valued in cents.
It will be a closed network project, where I want to have higher nominal value than rest of the "penny projects". But maybe I am wrong.
I mean, maybe people better like to have "1000 tokens" than "0.1 token" - as a psychological barrier.
Please help as community represents the voice of future investors..

The market decides what will be the value of a token.The only thing you can do is to "burn" all the unsold tokens after the ICO ends.This will stabilize or even increase the token price for a short period.

By establishment of the price I meant the value at the moment of token sale. You have right that after the ICO it is all about the trade value on exchanges.

But maybe I should make 100x tokens that their ICO sale value will be not 40 USD of single token but 0,40 USD.

Tokens will be representing the value of a loyalty network. That is why, because of talks with the merchants I didn't want them to be at small nominal value, but maybe people will feel safer with lower nominal values.

That is why I am consulting it.

The project is under construction (i.e. still constructing smart contract, also finishing some IT works for the MVP system), I am planning a pre-ICO at approximately 27th of September, however it seems it may be October as well (I want to prepare everything as best).

Why can't the tokens be worth a smaller amount and have the end user spend multiples (i.e. spending forty $1 tokens vs one $40 token)?

It was meant to be in talks with the merchants, however I won't be stubborn, If people want the lower value, no problem - at the end the community decides.
