Aaaand then he's back a minute later, so?  Huh Bans are as unwieldy as they are ineffective as a punitive measure.

I recognize a game of cat-and-mouse develops. Bans/Shadowbans work well on Reddit with it's active moderators, is all I'm trying to say.

I agree it is not a simple technical issue to resolve, but in the case of these forums, the alt would have to get out of newbie jail (or spam doxx in the newbie sub), and expend some effort to be able to post in other areas.

Ultimately, this debate falls into the sphere of ethics now, and is probably beyond the scope of this thread.

Point is, given the choice of being active in a community that supports doxxing vs one that doesn't, I think most would gravitate to one that takes safety of it's users into consideration.

I actually asked a question like this and got a pretty definate response from Theymos a while back. The consensus was that Doxing is allowed, because any information found via doxxing is fairly public info anyway that anyone could find with a basic search engine skills. It just means that someone took the time to compile the information together to get a profile of the person.
True that.

The signature campaign posters adding useless redundant fluff to their posts to reach their minimum word count are lowering my IQ.
