Hello Everyone,

I wanted to follow up on this and let you know that after over 3 months, my coins were unlocked and I was able to transfer them out.  Know that there is hope!  I sort of suspected that they may force a 90 day hold of some sort, based on something I had read somewhere.  I decided to be patient until after that time passed.  The timing which I was able to withdraw my coins seems to confirm my suspicion as it was the first business day after the 90th day after "re-submitting" KYC documentation that I received an email that my account had been unlocked. This was a frustrating experience, but I do believe that CampBX is either

A. Trying very hard to minimize losses - even at the sacrifice of customer experience

AND/OR

B. Were hacked at some point, experienced significant losses, and are doing their best to slowly to pay out customers over time.

If B. is part of the equation I would have preferred knowing up front, as I would have been willing to give them more time.  Suing an insolvent business will not ultimately help everyone recuperate their coins.

My suggestion is to be patient and be nice, even if that is hard (especially in crypto world).  Contact Keyur as mentioned above.  Finally, give it at least 90 days.  Seeing as this saga is now resolved, I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.  I likely won't be using CampBX moving forward, but I don't plan to pan them in reviews as I do believe they are trying to do the right thing.

I was also able to transfer out finally. Ticket opened in May, KYC sent in July, transferred out Sept. Messaged them every 7-10 days for updates and was polite the whole way.
I did not having any issues with transferring the whole amount, although it was not a massive amount.

I had resisted sending in KYC for two years but since there were a number of successful reports the value was now greater than the risk.

Thanks to everybody who reported back.

FINALLY GOT MY 5 BITCOINS out of there!

Bought 5 bitcoins in 2013. My account was locked. I submitted KYC docs in July 2017. After messaging the support every week for a few months and them basically ignoring me or giving BS. I hired an Atlanta lawyer to draft a demand letter, basically saying give me my bitcoins within 3 days or we will sue you. They sent the letter to about 4 addresses we could find.

After 3 weeks or so no reply... I was ready to file a real lawsuit when I see an email from customer support that my account is unlocked but I can only withdraw 0.1 per day because I didn't give them SSN. I did!

I logged into campbx and try transfer ALL my bitcoins and guess what... it goes thru! I'm happy I don't have to hire the lawyer and go thru all that court bullshit and get a judgment and trying to collect dollars from Keyur.

So there's a hope for everyone!

Sounds like the two of us were in a very similar position (I also bought my coins in 2013, though I only had 3, transferred the rest to Crypsty and you know how that went).  I'm still a little bothered that I didn't get a chance to get Bitcoin Cash from them.

I just tried to log in and it appears that my account has either been locked or closed.  Not a big deal for me since I no longer have my coins there.  Have you tried contacting support?  I thought they may unlock all other accounts before closing down.  It says that coins that are not retrieved will be given to the state as unclaimed property, so you still may be able to retrieve them that way as well (though that would obviously not be preferred).

Seriously, you'd have a lot better chance of getting your property back from the State than from Keyur Mithawala/CampBX (assuming they actually do turn our so-called "unclaimed" property over, which is very unlikely, because then we could present proof to the State that CampBX was lying about it being unclaimed).

I am in the same situation as many here.
I would participate in a legal action if one is started.

I am in the same boat as other people. I emailed support several times to reset my 2FA after I lost my phone, and could not get a response from them. That was a long time ago. I never received a single email from CampBX since my original sign-up date (meaning I got nothing saying they were closing down). I intend to get a lawyer. I'd love to get the contact info for the lawyer that unforgivable used, but I can't PM him/her because I am a "newbie". I can get another lawyer, but I wonder if anyone else has any success stories, or any up-to-date info about what's going on. We definitely need to figure out some way to work together to resolve this.

I just finished transferring my BTC away from CampBX. It took FOREVER to get my account unlocked and KYC certified - over 6 months from my initial KYC paperwork submission to their first useful response (they asked for more info), and then another month and a half to verify me once I re-sent it.

My suggestion is similar to the others: be polite, but persistent. I filed a complaint with the BBB, but they just ignored it and it didn't seem to help.

Once my account was unlocked, I started moving my BTC as fast as possible. Some things to note:
  • I was limited to transferring 0.15BTC per day. It seemed to be a strict 24 hour limit, not a rolling window.
  • CampBX is picky about mempool congestion - I could only submit transfers late at night, when the number of unconfirmed transactions was below 4000 (although once I was denied when it was around 2000).
  • CampBX has a 0.01BTC minimum transfer, so make sure you don't end up with 0.009 or less for your last transfer!
  • I was paying a small transaction fee for each transfer (only about $1USD worth of BTC), but I was able to completely empty my account on the last transfer (I didn't have to calculate how much a TX fee would be and subtract it from my withdrawal amount).

I have given up on retrieving Bitcoin Cash from CampBX - they've confirmed that they do not (and will not) support it in a recent Twitter reply.

I'm going to submit a request to close my account (there's a specific option for it when creating a ticket in the CampBX Helpdesk) - hopefully this will cause them to destroy my KYC documents and then I will be completely free and clear!

Good luck to anyone still trying to get coins from them - it's miserably slow, but possible.

Funny thing is, FinCEN said they cannot do anything about it....
