Hi guys

Something which hopefully is a simple question but I would really appreciate understanding...

If you invest in an ICO, could you ever lose more than you invest?

I understand that, say for example you invested $1,000, that could eventually be worth £0 but could you ever end up owing money? - say the coin crashed and the company running it had debts for example.

Might be a silly question (sorry if so) but I'd like to know.

Thank you.

ICO is a very risky venture and you can lose everything that you invested. That is why you have to choose the right project and do necessary research before investing in an ICO. You can only lose the money that you put in it but if you add the depression you get from losing money, yeah, you could lose more.

This is a very creative answer and very true. You can´t loose more than you invest in cryptocurrencies, but also your family may not like too much what you have done depending on the amount and that has a personal cost.

If the project is good enough and you participant in starting phases, you wont lose your money. You will earn.
You have to get in as early as possible for profit but also have to do heavy research on bonus $ and legitimacy.

If you invest in ICOs you have a risk of loosing your investment. Theoretically you can't end in owing money, but you have to study token and what rights does it give to you.

You can lose all your investment money but you will never owe money if something bad happens with the project. It's not your problem if the company that runs the ICO is collapsing and having debts. That is what I understanding!

Invest during their bonus period because most ICO's go lower than 50% their stated price. That is how to get money in ICO's.
Great experience , the first time ICO is really a gold mine, recently really a lot of ICO projects is a fast scam! thanks bro for sharing! Do you notice any?

Some ICOs will return your investments if they failed, but most of these ICOs arent not going to give you back what you have invested, its a risky move but it is worth if you are confident with the ICO,and if you research about the team and its product you will know the chance of success and failure the ICO.

Most ICOs that put legal disclaimers on showcase that token holders are not actual shareholders. That doesn't give them shareholder rights but also doesn't give token holders the same responsibilities. I don't think that under any jurisdiction token holders would end up owing more than they've put in though. Even if a company was promising tokenholders shares, the company would have to not be an S.A. or L.L.C. structure for such a thing to be even possible. Proving ownership and linking to identity would come next.

Such a possibility always exists. If you invest all your money in one project and it will be a Scam. Then you're going to do x0.5. In the worst lose everything. Follow the simple rule. Distribute funds on 2-3 currency. Watch them grow and pick a time to sell.

But could you lose more than you invest?
Imagine you calculate all your investments in USD and, for instance, bought and invested 1 BTC (at 16 000 USD rate) in some ICO. By the time you realized that you were scammed by that ICO, bitcoin price raised to 20 000 USD. In this case you still lose 1 BTC if to count in bitcoin. But as 1 BTC worth 20 000 USD already you lose 4 000 USD more than invested in USD. So yes, you can lose more than you invest. It all depends on your point of view.

I also think in the line of your thought that you can lose more than you have invested. For instance, you can acquire 25 unit of coin at $25 but with time, if that same unit of 25 coin is now valued at $15 even while one still retains that same 25unit.This scenario means that the value of the coin in price or dollar has depreciated while the coin still remains 25 unit.

Every business has its red and green side - lose and profit.

You can lose everything, but no more!) But if you are patient and picky in investments, you will definitely stay with the money, although it may not be for everyone!)

The most profitable option is to buy with a 50% discount and distribute your capital to all ICOs, reduce risks.

No boi you cant lost more than you invested. You need to be talented to make such things work Grin

What is DADI?

DADI is a global, decentralized cloud services platform, offering compute power, database storage, content delivery and other functionality to help businesses scale and grow. Unlike existing centralized cloud services, DADI implements a fog computing structure - a decentralized pool of devices, all of which are connected to the Internet. With DADI there is no single authority that regulates computing resource distribution. The platform uses cost-efficient fog computing organized by aDecentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) Autonomous Organization (DAO) rather than a centralized cloud structure, removing the need to pay in advance for private and monopolized cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

I can shorten your post buddy.

You can lose money alot yes. but don't just look at the usd price look for its potential, eventually coins takes time to pump from all time high because bounties selling their coins right after the exchange releases.

There is no silly question when you are new to this business. By participating ICOs you support the project and they give you their token from lower price. You can never lost more than you invest don’t worry.

If the company has problems with debts or investors, you are not responsible for it with your money. You sent Eth or bitcoin under contract and got tokens. It's all. You do not have a share in the capital, as there is no responsibility. Buying tokens is somewhat like bonds with no maturity. Although some companies buy them back and it looks like bonds with maturity.

It is quite possible to lose all your investment on ICOs if one is not very careful when investing. There son many good and bad ICOs that is why proper investigation must be done before investing like going through the project white paper, roadmap and the team handling the project.
