OK then, it could be a option to toggle it on and off. So everyone are satisfied, except theymos because he is the one to implement it. Cheesy

Loyce's solution also wasn't great because then it'd stop me going "that post was worth two merit not one: ctrl+r" Grin.
I do like that for when I get excited by a post (I don't do it for all the multiples but there was one a while ago when I thought, one was a bit stingey maybe I should refresh and give them two)?

What will happen if the guy that received the Merit already has 0.5 smerits and now it gives it away?
Will also this transaction get reversed? What happens if there are two links in this chain already?

It might lead to some serious abuse.
Oh, I didn't thought about sMerits when I posted this suggestion. Thanks for showing that my idea was stupid Cheesy
And, yeah, there are some more important things to do on Bitcointalk than solve this double spent Merit issue. This thing is just one of the first world problems.
User error.

Might as well add a captcha for sending merit so you don't accidentally submit the same form twice.

It's amazing you're not constantly double or triple posting!
I hope you're kidding about captcha for sending Merit...

i dont think that it is even possible, if the post is already posted then error is showsn that it has been done.
Correct me if i am wrong.

@OP

Might be theymos is not worried at all if you send double merits because merit circulation is low. In fact he encourage merit sources to send more to deserving post if they have difficulty in exhausting their source quota.
By sending double , if you got exhausted of your sMerits then this thread by suchmoon will help you.

That’s true, theymos wanted to get merit circulation to increase and fee,s it’s low himself at the moment. I need to try to make myself more comfortable with draining myself of smerits entirely... but that’s going to be difficult. Double tapping on 10 and sending 20 isn’t actually all that bad. You’re not supposed to be hoarding smerit anyway (although I like to keep the numbe high I have to say I’m my own page for some reason)...

I don't hold my sMerit, but my intention is to give it to different people. Of course it's not easy, and I don't see a good posts everyday but giving one to two people is a bit better than 2 merit to one person. You gonna say, yeah but those two create 1 more, sure they think about the other users.
Often people are willing to give merit to those who have already received one ( two, because this changed a bit after the new rules for sure) by just checking the merited posts in the history and they feel more comfortable to give their merit in a way they are not wasted on spammers.
Sure but those who have 0 ( or 1 ) have more difficulties to cross the border and earn more merit.
I try to go trough the newbie users history before I reward a merit in the same time i'm giving merit to more established members too trying to be around 50/50 (but it's not unfortunately). I'm not a source (yet Tongue) so every single point matters for someone and changes the way the others see him.

I propose that threads or posts have a limit of merits(like 10) since it's not fair that some threads have 1 trillion of merits and other good posts not a single one  Undecided

Then be a good Samaritan and do the following when ever you see those good posts you speak of.
Send me a personal message (PM) with a subject "Post deserves merit" and a link to a post that needs merit and a brief explanation why you think so. If I have spare time and spare merits I may review it and decide to merit it.

  • DO send links to posts of other users.
  • You can send me multiple links but my attention spa... spa?! Sounds fabulous!

who can gives merit there is a specific list ?

No, there's no specific list, any member of the forum having at least 1smerit can send them. After the airdrop of merits/smerits, for new users to have smerit to send out, they must have received 2merits from another user

When you receive smerit, it shows as merit and gives you smerits (which are spendable) visit thread for better understanding

Everyone who have a sMerit can send it. There are only 119 Merit sources who have a given supply of sMerit which is renewed every 30 day.
Those merit sources are officially anonymous but there are already lists with suspected sources Wink

There are some interesting merit stats ^

Every time I receive a Merit I celebrate by opening a few bottles and drinking all night long, which usually leaves me with a huge hangover.

Therefore, I would also like to propose some cool down time after receiving a Merit.
