consult your motherboard's manual. it should have an option for setting VGA device priority

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

As soon as a GPU is inserted in the pci-e outlet, the on-board GPU will deactivate.

Look on your BIOS an option to enable IGP(Integrated graphics card) even if an PCIe card is inserted, something like "Ever enable IGP".

Maybe I did not try enough but only 1 of the 3 my motherboard that I tried still output to onboard when a graphic card is inserted.  IMO you are lucky if you can still use onboard while mining.

good luck

You other guys are having some odd problems, I've always had my onboard working as long as I had the drivers for it.

OP: Just plug your monitor into your onboard, make sure your onboard is enabled. Linux should pick this up. (It does in windows.)

Poclbm should only show openCL devices. Your 4200 (I hope doesn't) support openCL.

And if the option isn't there, check the MB website for an upgraded bios flash.
