messages vanish?

Just curious, I have sent a couple messages in the last few days and they never appear in my Outbox and not getting any replys I assume they never get sent either... is this due to the site change?

profile -> personal message options -> Save a copy of each Personal Message in my outbox by default.

i can't explain the no replies though.
