What does it mean when my electric hot water heater has shit off 3 times this week and I had to push the reset button to get it back on and how to prevent?

Call to get it checked out and have it fixed most likely a fault which has a easy fix with the right knowledge.

Cool, just curious because we had all the parts replaced kast year, elements, electronics, etc.  Just wondering if there was a quick fix that could be done.

Turn temp down, make sure overflow valve is wide open.

Definitely have to keep the temp up.  I like it on the hot side.  have it at 135 which seems reasonable.  Anything less and the hot water doesn't last as long.  Plus we have horrible hard water where im at for now and need the extra temps for the dishwasher and washing machine.  Will check the valve

Hard water? Look at the elements. If they get build up they will trip the breaker.

How long do the elements usually last, we replaced them about 8 months ago.  Will check valve tomorrow when I get home.

Usually for years but if deposits start building up, it won't take long to have a problem.

Have you drained the tank lately to remove built up sediment? It might not fix the problem, but it couldn't hurt.
