+1

The MtGox rates bear no meaning anymore. Actually they haven't for quite some time already.

In fact, MtGox itself bears no meaning anymore to Bitcoin. The days that morons thought "Bitcoin = MtGox" are long past, fortunately.

I run a few Bitcoin-related websites and manage a few ticker controls, and removed the MtGox rates from all of them.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Bitcoins on Mtgox are now $40 less than other exchanges.  They should halt all trading until they fix their issues. They are hurting Bitcoin
Halting all trading now will only cause more unnecessary panic.

Especially now that there's still a lot of money in MtGox (since people can't get it out Sad).

MtGox should simply say: "Sorry, our bad, we were wrong in incorrectly using transactions IDs like this. We'll fix this right away, and people will be able to get their money out in two days from now."

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

something wrong with that calculator   does it say 1btc = .608USD?  do they mean 1btc = 608 USD?

No, they mean

Quote from: bitcoinaverage.com
millibitcoin to United States Dollar, USD global weighted average"

On the right hand side, there's a "Switch to ฿1 base" button.

Hi guys ,

Considering Mtgox's irresponsible activity Angry , i've removed Mtgox bitcoin price ticker from my websites (change to btc-e temporarily).

And i am urging other Chinese bitcoin websites to do the same.

In order to prevent one certain big exchange dominate the market ,  i suggest to use Average price index ( Coindesk BPI ) instead .

any thoughts ?

this is the right direction. Get them out of view. I am sick of that exchange

MtGox: 50 million strikes? YOU'RE OUT, PERMANENTLY.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

http://www.coindesk.com/coindesk-removes-mt-gox-bitcoin-price-index-2/

So did bitcoinaverage.com :
Code:

btctrade                volume data suspect
coinbase                volume data not published
mtgox                withdrawals blocked
okcoin                volume data suspect
vircurex                unreachable since 10 Feb, 17:54 UTC
