Hi. Long time lurker first time poster here.
I, like many other people use blockchain.info online wallet. So far I've had no problems, all transactions have been fine and it is a very convenient way to keep my BTC. The reason I decided to use blockchain.info is that I've heard about people getting hacked, losing their computers, forgetting their private key etc. so I thought blockchain.info online wallet would have someone who's full time job it is to ensure the site is secure.
What I want to know is how safe is the online wallet at blockchain.info? I guess there is no legal guarantee that the bitcoins are safe but how trustworthy are the people behind it? What are we getting when we get a online wallet?

Keep in mind that blockchain.info is a hybrid wallet, meaning most of the calculations are done by your browser.
Blockchain.info has no access to your wallet.
You are mostly getting convenience for chosing an online wallet. You still have to be very careful about how and where you enter your passwords.

I remember there was a vulnerability in the RNG which allowed to guess private keys and steal some Bitcoins. Blockchain.info owner fully reimbursed losses for the uses from own pocket. Very trustworthy service!

Threads like these seem to pop up all the time. In short, Blockchain is probably the safest online wallet as it provides multiple security features and has a good reputation. But at the end of the day, it's up to you to decide. The best thing is to not keep all your BTC in one place.

It's relatively safe. I certainly feel that my bitcoins would be more secure in a blockchain.info wallet than in an online wallet which held my bitcoins and for which there was some "legal guarantee".

With all of the security features that it offers it is undoubtedly one of the safest online wallets out there. The rest of the security all comes down to how you access it etc.

You have to remember that IF you keep money ONLINE
IF they will LOST their wallets, database etc.
You MIGHT have some problems with getting back your money.
I guess blockchain will payback all eventyally lost. BUT - it is BETTER to keep your bitcoins on some storage devices.
You can make your own copy, even print it and you do not have to worry about it.
Keeping money online might cause some risk.

blockchain.info allows regular backups of the privkeys per mail or dropbox. so i am not afraid that they will vanish. as they dont know my privkeys i am not very concerned that they get robbed or try to rob me. keylogger, dns spoofing could be more problematic

And I did not say that I dont give a trust to blockchain wallet, but I just say that I feel better to keep my bitcoins closer to me

how about blockchain cold paper wallet?
lets say blockchain.info just goes down from one day to an other, I will still be able to recover a blockchain.info generated cold paper wallet, right?
(it has the private key, so I should be able to, just looking for some extra assurance here) thanks

I must agree but still think that is better to keep your CC closer to you :-) and I guess offline wallets are best way.
