What the OP said is really true. If the negative aspect arises whenever you gamble and it outweighs the positive impact in your life, I guess it is time to move on and forget gambling. I know it is easy to say but hard in real life. And that I think is also one of the major struggles of gamblers. Those who want to change their gambling habit is in their difficult phase and needs will power to achieve their goals in life. One should always remind himself why he is doing it, should be doing for himself and not anybody else.

The word destroy for gamblers is subjective, he might not be aware of it and takes it something that normally happens to any gambler so he will not accept any kind reasoning, as long as he can balance his winnings and his losses, I don't think he can admit that he needs help, but when he is not winning and losing everything, maybe that's the time that he will realize that he needs help.

Destroy is not really as "subjective" as you might imagine. If you are unhappy with the results and your finances are in the drains that means it destroys you. Yes, the amount changes for everyone and for some people you might be spending 1000 dollars per bet and not destroy your life while for some others spending 10 dollars per bet is destroying them but that can be only known by that person and not us.

I always say calculate what your total liquid cash amount is that you can spend right now and do not gamble more than 1% of that. If you gamble more than 1% that is getting closer and closer to leaving you without any money in the end. However playing on just 1% of your whole cash means it won't matter all that much.

People who want to stop gambling just stop. They don't find reasons why not to and excuses why they can't. It's like smoking. You either stop over night or you never stop. All those limitations like I will only smoke 5 a day don't really work. I don't know anyone who has stopped smoking that way.

I am going on holiday in a few days with a couple of friends. All of them are poker and slot machine fans. I am not. We do have sports betting in common though. I already know how much I will spend gambling on sports. We are going to try and win some money to have a better time elsewhere. If it doesn't work it doesn't work.

Well,  for me i will not leave gambling because this is my stress reliever especially in my work schedule.  But i dont gamble in Dice and in other gambling that based on luck i only gamble in Sport Betting like in Basketball especially in  Boxing because I'm very happy to watch boxing and this give me good relaxation while im in home..

It's good for you because you gamble only for stress reliever and I think you enjoying gamble. Some gamblers they gamble because they want to win big money they want an instant money but they don't know they are getting addicted on gambling. So it's so nice for you sir because you gonna gamble for only to enjoy and have fun.

Consider it a good thing that you are not considering gambling as something that would feed your greed for money, you are instead using it for entertainment. I think there must be another job to be able to forget from gambling addiction at least there are activities to eliminate the addiction, if there is no activity at all then the addiction will continue to exist even difficult to forget it.

I had a different situation.  I loved going to a nightclub.  There are a lot of girls in the night club, and that's great!  But on the second floor of the club there was a casino ... At the entrance to the club, when I bought the entrance ticket, I received free chips in the casino.  And then I won at the casino!  And I forgot about the girls and started playing all the time.  I stopped dating girls.  I had money.  I often won at the casino.  But I had no more sex.  That was bad.

Your story is funny though.  You already have the money so it would be not a problem anymore to date girls. But in your case, it seems you found your happiness in gambling. But for those gamblers who really are in deep debt owed to gambling, I think they need to evaluate their situation and maybe, gambling is not for them. On my part, I gamble from time to time but only using my extra money, so gambling has no big impact on my financial situation. So far, it is not destroying me but rather providing means of entertainment whenever I have free time.

Gambling can't give good things to most of the gamblers because most of the time, gambling just ruins the lives of the gamblers who are spending most of time on it.

If you gambled without moderation then there is a high chance that you can get addicted into it then it will start to destroy your life either temporarily or permanently. Gambling ruined many lives already around the world and it will as long as there are people who are gambling.

In case of gambling sites, there are many gambling sites online already and the numbers of gamblers are still growing as they can have access and can gamble in an easy way. They don't need to go into a casino just to gamble because now they can gamble with the use of smartphone and an internet. Many people ignore this kind of call whenever someone is telling them to do so. regardless of their current bad situation in this industry, they pursue to engage in it even though the result is always unwanted. A smart choice of the type of game you are gambling with. Gambling with sports has a literally higher chance of winning compared to dice and many more traditional gambling games we see in casinos.
In your case quitting gambling is not necessary because it sounds like you have total control over it, just don't go over betting .

You cannot make a decision for another person.  Need to gamble?  I dont know.  People love to challenge fate.  Everyone should try this.  And then draw conclusions.  For example, four musketeers.  They loved risk.  They loved to gamble.  In the 21st century, people also love risk and love to gamble. 50/50.

Indeed, what destroys many gamblers is their wins, not losses. Wins make them addicted. It's not that I can't relate completely to that situation, I used to be like them when starting with gambling. But then I realized at some point that good wins rarely happen, and if you were lucky to have one, you better celebrate the occasion instead of risking to lose all your wins and more.

Once I won 0.17 in a poker tournament, and a friend of mine said to me: "Great! Now you can buy 17 tickets for similar tournaments with those money! Surely you will win more in the end." But I've never bought a single ticket worth 0.01 since then. In my opinion, luck plays too big of a part, even in games like poker, to risk what you can't afford to lose in one day.
