We're launching http://btcfile.com a straightforward service to sell any digital content. Books, music, videos, video games, software, anything that can be stored in files can be sold on btcfile in seconds. No registration required. Just upload your content, set a price and bitcoin address.

We also provide a very simple API for any developers who'd like to add the ability to sell files for bitcoins to their existing app or service.

Can there be a automatic public feed or indexer of all the files so people know they exist? Ran into the same problem with Oybee.

We don't plan on being a directory of content/marketplace for now. Anybody can hook up to our service and provide just that, though. Integration with us is open to everyone. Including services that people might consider to be our current competitors, who might not want to deal with hosting the files anymore and rather focus on their content directory aspect.

We might display the most popular downloads, items "just sold" or something like that, but we've just launched, currently that list wouldn't be very interesting.

Yeah, it is kind of weird that you don't show any of the content. At the very least it'll keep people on your site for a bit longer and I'd be willing to bet you'll get more sales.

We'll consider it if there's demand for it, but maybe an option in the API is more appropriate than something on the main site. What's the use case you have in mind for disposable sales?

My guess would be for selling something to a particular individual. Have you thought about password-protected files?

You can upload a password-protected .rar or a TrueCrypt disk image and achieve exactly that.

When people ask for options it's a lot more interesting to hear what they intend to do. People tend to ask for things they've already seen, faster horses and all. To come up with innovative solutions we need to know the actual needs and use cases. And if we think that these needs are worth providing for, chances are our solution will be different than what people thought would solve their problem.

You could do that, but then whoever bought the content could just share the password around. A one time use download/password would protect against this.

Granted, someone could just share the downloaded files, but this requires a little more effort on their part, so they're less likely to do so.

Uploading the file and setting the Price and the receiving address works quite well.

Payment and delivery is fast and works quite well too.

The only downside is that I never got the money forwarded to my address. So its a good service if you don't need the money you intended to sell your goods for. =/

Well I know someone bought my file and I didn't get anything forwarded to my address. On their site they say they forward payments one a day. However, I should have gotten my payment like 3 days ago but didnt get anything. =/

Please contact us through the help link on our site and provide details about which file that person tried to buy, the transaction information, etc. We'll look into it.

Is it a technical issue? I'd rather see everyone who actually sold files be paid instead of just the people actively complaining. Please pay out everyone who sold files.

If it is a technical issue I can wait for it to be fixed and then tell your if I received anything.

Else I dont see any reason for be to provide further information since I didn't sign up and therefore didn't provide any information except for my receiving address in the first place. If people have to actively complain in order to get their money, then the service is not working as intended =/

Edit: Complaining seems to help, the BTC just got forwarded. Hopefully if doesn't always take that long plus a complaint =/

Could you add an option to send a message instead of a file?
