Hey All,

I'm a super newbie when it comes to crypto.

Back in 2012, my friend asked me to buy $100 worth of BTC... Of course, i said no.. cause I needed the $100 to eat. (i know, big mistake!)
However, i am a tech nerd... so i started to mine BTC via BTC Guild back in 2012 for like 2-3 months.

I forgot about it for years...

I just checked, and I have my wallet address. No Dat File, just a wallet address from my email.

Does anyone know how i can check to see if I have any BTC?

I do see other threads that state they shut down in 2015.

Anyone know?

Thank you!

No idea about that mining service, but you can lookup your wallet address using a block explorer.

https://www.blockchain.com/explorer

^Just a heads up that you can’t regain access to your funds by just having the wallet address. You’re going to need the backup.

If you find a wallet.dat file: make a backup. Then, make another backup (on a USB stick). You can load the wallet.dat into Bitcoin Core (see News link on top of this page) to recover your funds.
If there's a significant amount in it, you should consider a more secure approach and NOT use the wallet on a PC connected to the internet. That's more work, but as a tech nerd shouldn't be a problem.
Enjoy your treasure hunt!

I don't think they can help you, it's all up to your own wallet now.

Thank you very much.

Is it possible that BTCGuild can take all the BTC from their pool? Even some that were in my wallet.dat file?

Thank you

Yes.

No.

It really depends on how the pool operated. You should have received payouts, but they could for instance have required manual withdrawals.
Did you check your address in a block explorer (for instance Blockchair.com)?

Yes and it shows 0.00000BTC.

However, my buddy who does BTC has BTC and puts his address and also says 0.00000BTC

He probably has more than one address. Look at change addresses for example.
