Hello Everyone,

Like many folk, I should have invested in BTC many moons ago, but never - Hey ho.

I got got as far as making a snake game on BBC Basic as a kid, but that is where my skills stopped and forgotten.

I do not really have any understanding of code and how block chain etc works...  Being honest, I just about use email.

I appreciate this forum is probably for more knowledgeable people than me and I run the risk of being trolled, but I thought this might be the best place to start.

Does anyone have any advice, or could signpost me to learn?

Thank you in advance.

Best,

T

It's still very early in Bitcoin adoption, so you have not missed the train yet.

I got got as far as making a snake game on BBC Basic as a kid, but that is where my skills stopped and forgotten.

You do not need in-depth understanding of codes or blockchain to be able to wrap your head around the basics of Bitcoin or to actually use it in a transaction or store it in a wallet. As long as you have been using a smart phone or a computer (which you obviously have with this post) then you can understand and use bitcoin.

I appreciate this forum is probably for more knowledgeable people than me and I run the risk of being trolled, but I thought this might be the best place to start.

Does anyone have any advice, or could signpost me to learn?
There is a healthy bunch of knowledgeable members and also a good amount of trolls. Learn from the former and ignore the latter; this is the internet after all.

My advice;
• Identify what resource you learn best through, could be videos, podcasts, books etc.
• Find useful content that would help you understand the basics of Bitcoin. You can also drop your preferred choice or resource here and other members can chip in with suggestions,
• Take it a step at a time,
• Realize that you do not need to understand the whole concept of it inorder to use it.
• Read useful posts here such as;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0 (for beginners to the forum)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 (forum rules)

Welcome to the Bitcointalk forum I believe you are in the right place to learn and ask as many questions as you can about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency.
It will take some steps to learn about bitcoin, but I suggest you start with learnmeabitcoin.com as you will be able to get the proper guidance as a beginner and you will also know all the necessary things you need to know. but most importantly, remember to always forum rules and regulations, and avoid plagiarism

Welcome to the forum T. You dont have to be an expert in understanding codes to be able to use Bitcoin or how to learn transferring Bitcoin from wallet 1 to wallet 2. Try to search in this forum on what you want to learn and if you have something that you didnt understand well then you can post in this forum to ask fo help just like what you did just now. Sooner or later, you'll be a knowledge person about Bitcoin, Blockchain technology and other related topics.

Welcome and thank you for joining the Bitcointalk forum. You are definitely in the right place for all issues related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. First of all, I think it's never too late. Many of us joined much later than we should have. With regard to your question, I would recommend starting with the basics. You can find many online resources for learning the basics of bitcoin and blockchain. You can search Google for beginner-friendly ebooks. To begin, I think the most important thing is to learn how to store coins properly and how to make transactions. Make sure you know how to protect yourself against a variety of online threats and hackers, and never give out your private information to anyone. If you have any specific question, do not hesitate to ask.

If you really managed to create a working snake game with BBC Basic (without copy-pasting the code) then learning how bitcoin works (at least the basics) shouldn't be a problem for you.
Bitcointalk is the right place to learn anything related to bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. Just create a new thread and ask about anything you don't understand and many members will answer your question.

It's all as stated here, take one step at a time, there are many useful posts and topics here and if you have any questions you can ask here you'll get answers here as well. When learning about bitcoin, I believe it is best to start with the basics before delving into the codes and how blockchain works.
You can look into these they might be useful.

If you like learning bitcoin thru videos - https://youtube.com/c/aantonop

And if you like learning thru reading articles and books.
- https://www.lopp.net/
- https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook

Or you could buy those 3 volume book of "The Internet of Money" by Antonopolous in amazon if you want to learn the idea behind bitcoin in layman's terms.

Hello Everyone,

Like many folk, I should have invested in BTC many moons ago, but never - Hey ho.

Most of us feel that way too but we've agreed that since we can't change the past we have to make the best out out of the knowledge we now have about Bitcoin.

Does anyone have any advice, or could signpost me to learn?

Here are some few tips I have for you.

  • Bitcoin is a long term investment not a get-rich quick scheme.
  • First learn to hodl before venturing into trading. 1BTC in 2022 = 1BTC 2041
  • Security and privacy should be one of your topmost concerns as you invest in bitcoin. Here are a list of curated topics by users on this forum on security and privacy - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5239098.0

here is the best place to start. Learn all kinds of science about cryptocurrencies. It's never too late when you want to start learning about bitcoin and it's the right time to start investing.
The people who commented above I have already given a lot of suggestions that you should use and it will certainly help you.
The most important thing is not lazy to read and understand what is described in this forum. So if you want to start investing, start with what you can afford, learn all the advantages and risks.

You really need a beginner guide, any of these two would be of help:

Bitcoin for beginners
coindesk.comwww.coindesk.comWhat is Bitcoin? The Basics of Bitcoin Explained

Before investing in bitcoin, I will advice you to go through the price history of bitcoin on Coinmarketcap or any other related sites. You should try and learn how bitcoin price has been increasing after halving and also followed by bear market period like a year or two years after. Checking the price history will help you to invest at the appropriate time like now.

There are lots of non-technical articles out there that could get you to decently understand Bitcoin without understanding how it works in the back-end.

* If you like reading articles: https://coindesk.com/learn
* If you like reading books: https://theinternetofmoney.info/
* If you like watching videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPQwGV1aLnTuN6kdNWlElfr2tzigB9Nnj

Security related:
* https://cryptosec.info
* https://www.lopp.net/bitcoin-information/security.html

If you want to get more technical (can get quite tough without general technical knowledge)
* https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook#chapters

Taff T, welcome to the forum.
Congratulations on a decision that will change your life, and the lives of your children and grandchildren.
It's not easy to understand the technological aspect of bitcoin, but is it important for you to understand it at all?
You use your computer and the Internet every day, drive a car, or use other technology even though you don't understand how it works.
I think it is much more important that you understand the possibilities offered by bitcoin, and the opportunities to give yourself and your children a better financial future.
Bitcoin is decentralized and not controlled by any state or bank.
Bitcoin is an alternative to classic money and a great investment opportunity, and I think that’s the most important thing you need to understand about bitcoin.
