Countries and companies that won't value their skilled employees are like throwing gems. Those employees will only find better opportunities that will fit their skills with the right compensation. It deserves a better salary and I hope huge businesses would know that they're also the backbone of the company. They can rehire new employees but it will be a loss if they will let go of experienced and skilled employees.
This is the problem when the company only focus on their income and not giving enough value to their employees. Though some company are just struggling right now and they have to cut their cost at the expense of their employees, it’s sad but that’s the reality and that is what happening right now. So many economic issues and if that company doesn’t make any moves, most probably they will be more affected by this. Unemployment rate will continue to rise, and the government should take action on this.

Personally, I lead a team of 70+ associates and around 40% of them have expressed their intent to resign if they are forced to come back to office. It's a huge challenge for many other Indian companies as well.

Working in a office is really inconvenient especially if the traffic condition in your country is not good. Like here in the Philippines, many IT employees prefer to work at home not just because it's less expensive but they are able to save plenty of their time when going to work.

Work environment also affects the employee's decision why they prefer to work remotely. Maybe they have a toxic workmate that feels too priviledged in their company.

2. 61% of employees are willing to accept a lower salary or a promotion to focus on better work-life balance
If they are promoted then I think the work force is also going to increase but in return of it is that their salary will also increase dramatically. Maybe there are some companies whose system works the opposite way like they gave a better life for those who are higher in positions.

The decision of the workers there are great. They choose a well-organized life over the money while I think there are still some who will prefer money and will accept whatever the consequences are like they will work even the working hours are long and if the scope of the job is tough. Even if many people resigns, there will always be replacements. So no worries.

This is one thing that I don't quite understand for these tech companies. Most of their products are built, modified, and shipped through the internet. What makes working on office different from working at home when one can still accomplish the tasks at hand just the same? Meetings can also be done through online platforms like Zoom or Webex, so why all the rush to bring back everyone in the office? There are some industries that really require an office-based setup, but it's surprising that the tech sector forces people to return to a setup that eats up a lot of their time and resources before they can get their jobs done.
In many cases this is about control, without a doubt there are people which can work very efficiently from the comfort of their own homes and you could even see an improvement in the performance, but I think they are the exception rather than the rule, most people will find it difficult to concentrate working from their own homes as it is unlikely they will have a room completely dedicated to this, so their performance will go down, and in that case it makes sense for companies to want their employees back to the office.

It's a bit of a double edge sword. If you earn more money and end up with less time then you will not have a good work life balance, but if you earn less then you are not going to have a decent life neither because your life would be filled with debt. I do not live in the USA so I can't really know the salary situation there, but where I live we do not make much money.

I do not do anything major, and even with that in mind I still do not earn enough at all, and I am earning more than most people I know. So if I am not living as a rich person, that means I am living a decent life and by working really hard, and I am happy about it, but I can't afford to just earn less for more time.

We can't blame those employees who will demand for a work-from-home setup. We all know the convenience that working remotely can provide. It saves time, effort and lessen the expenses especially now that we're experiencing the inflation crisis wherein the oil price hike is a burden, traveling to the office site is really a hassle and expensive at the same time.
If they can still perform their best and could give a good service that you require, then I think you should give them a chance to continue working with their preferred setup. Value the wellness of your employees so they can give back through providing a promising service which is important for the growth of your company.

Let's put this on a scale, one side 86% of people are ready to resign their jobs but on the other side the unemployment is at the peak all over the world so India is not an exception to it, so if the existing employees are going to resign their jobs then soon the slots will be filled with people who is looking for jobs so company get more benefits if an existing employee resign since they can hire someone to do the same task just for the half pay.

Practically no one is going to resign their jobs because they have been asked to come back from the work from home setup so this isn't really an issue.
