Yes gambling affects studies and I know this for sure speaking from my own experience. When I was still in school, whenever my exam period is approaching, I don't gamble anymore because if I happen to stake any game, my full attention will be there if when I try to distract myself with other things, I still find myself to be drawn into that very game. I think in this aspect, if you're someone who easily carried away with gambling and may be can't combine your gambling activities with other things especially if you are a student and may be you are in your exam period, I think the  best thing you could do for yourself is to give a break after all gambling is not running away, you can continue later when your done with your exams, mate I love what you said, it also defines how descipined you are, it is very clear that you are in control of yourself because for you to know how this could be a distraction shows that you're that kind of gambler that knows when to give a break and when to resume, with this approach you can't get addicted at all.

I don't know your age and how much time you spent schooling, but I am sure your school didnt teach of this this things you mentioned, how come you are not an addicted gambler, or have you ever used your school fees to gamble?

When they learn to manage money then things are going to be made easy for them but a lot of youths now are so much interested in making money that they are leaving a lot of things unattended to and it is better they get this orientation before it is to late because when they become addicted early stage then it becomes worse for them to actually redeem there self it will be difficult and most of this problem comes with peer pressure and they will always do it hidden.

If it's kids have good orientation about on how to manage funds so that even when that start things like gambling with time they will be able to control there self. I also think that this is not very good for young people and their studies in the long term.
