What do you think is probably ongoing here?

if you feel disturbed by your feelings then you should ask your friend directly to avoid bad relations between you and your friend, why should you suspect or think something that is uncertain and unclear?
even you hear it from relatives who are not sure the truth. there are several possibilities, the first is that what his relative said was not true. the second possibility is that he really protects his privacy from you because he doesn't trust you for some reason.

Perfect, I feel the same about OP's friend. Maybe he don't trust him as much as he trust his friend. Because he saw OP talk too much about bitcoin and thinks that OP can scam him. Also some people don't want to share anything with others, maybe your friend don't to share the knowledge with you.

Why do you waste your time on thinking about something that you can not control? Your friend ignores you and you should do the same. No hard feelings.
There's nothing wrong with having always a safety precaution. Rember always, "prevention is better than cure". So for me, it's always better to avoid and always be careful, there will be nothing to lose if you prevent it from happening in the first place.
Teaching some people how Bitcoin works and guiding them is already good enough for me, always set some boundaries.

Why would someone try to hide their Bitcoin involvement from their friends that tried to teach them all this while?

I feel somehow about my friend because I just found out that he has been into Bitcoin for a long time, probably before me, what's surprising to me is whenever I tried to enlighten him about Bitcoin he always Shawn me down and say he has no interest..

Today I get to know from a relative of his, who thought that we are into Bitcoin investment together, a coincidence that brings up some suspicious thought, now I am left with thoughts of why he was hiding this all along from me?

At first I though maybe he was scared bringing me along, but it doesn't make any sense because I thought I knew better than him and I needed to teach him.

What do you think is probably ongoing here?

I think some people just keep a privacy policy for themselves here, that's obviously what your friend was intentionally doing here because he didn't want to draw any attention to his bitcoin holdings so other people can be shouting it out for the world to hear. Just a thought though

If you don't get the point mate ? sorry to say and sadly to understand that Your friend seems to be not treating you a true friend because he tries to secure His knowledge and bitcoin from you meaning one thing , that he even consider you as a threat back then and just recently that he give trust on you when he finally realized and get to believe you are in bitcoin.

i can also relate in this but it is me that denies my friend to learn about my dealing in bitcoin and crypto .
once he PMed me in messenger about his newly found money making site( it is a crypto site but not bitcointalk) he tells me that he is now generating income from His investment in Bitcoin but I show no complete interest , but sooner when bitcoin price experience bad time? he leave and never trust bitcoin as losses comes his way so now I realized that better that he did not come to learn my involvement in crypto because he is not truly a believer .

Don't take it personal you're friend just want to protect himself most probably. Not against you, but with people who develops an interest to rob his bitcoin. There might be some circumstances that you talk to someone outside your circle about you or your friends involvement with bitcoin.
What I think about your friend is that, he's a very careful man, he most probably has a huge stack of bitcoin in his wallet.

Here's a piece of advice, now that you already knew that he has been in bitcoin probably longer than you do, you have to respect his decision that he kept it to himself as he definitely has a good reason behind it.

It's a case of keeping your private life private and nothing more. You don't need to take it personal, some person are like that, they like keeping certain things to themselves no matter how close you are to them, and it is for obvious reasons.

Well, now that you know, still don't talk too much about BTC to him, he might still don't want to talk about it.

Why the secret wasn't kept to himself? Why did his family and relative know about his Bitcoin investment? I think your replies are not right but I will make this my last comment in the thread, it's fine.

That's it, now you see that he was not secure as possible. He didn't explain his relatives how important to keep his bitcoins in secret. He shared his secret with his family, some of them shared it with you and then you shared it with us all. So if anyone will reveal your identity... There are enough cases when bad guys visited bitcoin holders and using violence forced to give the keys to wallets. It is not what should be told everyone.

So why are you all accepting Bitcoin as means of payment? Why are you all displaying "Bitcoin is accepted here"? Why are you promoting Bitcoin? Why don't you all keep it as secret since you don't want anyone to know that you are involved with Bitcoin.

"Bitcoin is accepted here" sticker is not as risky: a criminal never knows if you've got any bitcoins or not and if you've got then if you use some third party to exchange accepted bitcoins to fiat currency immediately or hold them by yourself. They'll more likely take cash from cashier.

Maybe your friend didn't want to share his bitcoin involvement with any of you. In this case there can be two reasons why your friend is not sharing Bitcoin with you one is because he is concerned about security and secondly he doesn't want you to be involved with Bitcoin. Because he might have thought that he would single-handedly change his financial situation by getting involved in Bitcoin and investing in Bitcoin. If his thoughts are like the second reason I mentioned then you can stop hanging out with him because that friend will never want you well.

There are many other reasons that we still do not know. Why don't you think that the OP himself is not good enough and makes his friend untrustworthy enough to share some secrets with the OP? Because investing in bitcoin is considered a secret by some for privacy reasons. We can't just listen to one direction and judge others based on someone's story.

I think the best way is for both should have a frank talk with each other to find out the cause. If they have friction and no longer trust each other, the friendship should be terminated.

That is one of the part a bitcoin user does so don't blame him, because we don't trust our next neighbours. You were under observation. He was observing you to know if you were a trusted to to mingle with bitcoin. And also he was playing the role of physical anonymity from people so that authority would not go after him. Because nobody is trusted. That is, he is telling something that you should also do by not announcing your investments mostly cryptocurrency to people including friends. But in the process of they can find out then it is good for them and not you announcing to them. All what you have to do is to just play along with him and learn more from him again. And don't be hurt with his hidden character as bitcoin guru in your locality. You people can work together and build things together by using p2p as well.

OP, everyone's safety is paramount to them. I see no wrong if your friend decided not to show you his bitcoin assets or wallet for track. Your friend considers his privacy and thinks of protecting his life which is the major reasons why bitcoin was developed. Every man to his or her own wallet. Nobody can be able to know each very wallet and their owners.
You have done well to bringing your friend into blockchain, teaching him the basics and fundamentals which are commendable but never have in mind or expect them to show you their private wallets after finish learning.
