Do you fix their erroneous gambling thinking or you let them be?

When I discuss the wide range of gambling and betting with friends who are not on the forum, I often notice their flawed thinking. If it were just once, I would not have given it a thought but when their flawed thinking about gambling comes up over and over again it makes me torn between wanting to help them change the way they think or just leaving them to continue with such thinking until some major gambling experience happens and changes it for them. Some type of this flawed thinking is borrowing money from loan apps to gamble thinking that when they win they will pay back the loan and its interest and keep the rest for themselves. They call this gambling, with other people's money. Another flawed thinking is their belief that paid between groups will make them become millionaires faster than if they are not in the paid group. There are others like this.

Remember when it comes to gambling, everybody thinking and mindset is different, you may be playing for fun,you set your limits and don't chase loss, while for your friend reverse is the case, how can you then explain to that person not to chase losses,set limits in time and bankrolls play for entertainment and others, it very difficult mainly when the person has the chance of winning often compared to you that win once a while, that your friend will not listen to you, in situations like these you can't change it rather leave the person to do whatever he wants in as much as he was told, at times those your friends might think that you are not happy towards their success allow nature to take it's cause, but for those that listen to you let it be.

For me I don't boarder myself in as much as I have told you the right things, i believe everyone is an adult, so you know how to live your life, but for those who are addicted through these means, you keep on talking and cancelling them so that they can minimize their gambling activities in other for them not to go into depression, because after collecting bank loans and other, he finds it difficult to pay back because of his loss in gambling without any win, the it will be too late to regret.
It is very difficult to fix these persons, instead talk to them to minimize their actions and activities.

When those thinking come from a gambling addiction it's very hard to change them. And in gambling there is almost always a part of addiction. So usually I don't even try to change their mind if they look motivated, and not hesitating

If they look motivated from that belief, it's hard to talk them out of it, as it could also be the best choice to let them be rather than wasting your entire time on someone who doesn't care, unless in a situation where the people/person in question show a little form of openness to hearing what you have to say; only then might it be worth it to try to talk the exact person out of it.

Our life is such that the best lessons people understand only from their own experience, there are very few people who are ready to listen, considering themselves very competent in any matter. Especially when it comes to gambling, there is a certain type of people with a special psyche, who are not able to react correctly to good advice. Therefore, we must be responsible exclusively for our actions, everything that happens to our friends is their choice. If your advice does not teach anything, someone else called "life" will teach them.

You don't need to convince people, let them experience so they can learn their own lessons. Much better if they have gone thru such ordeal because it will leave a mark on their respective life. It is their life, so it is their own prerogative what to do with their gambling life. Mind your own business so to speak. You can't dictate someone's life to do their own thing.

I don't call this a dictate, we are just trying to help them avoid making serious mistakes, mistakes that can put their lives in a dead end. Gambling is unlike anything else, it is addictive and difficult to quit if one engages in it without understanding and responsibility. So, letting them experience and learn their own lessons is also very dangerous, what if they become addicted instead of awakening? But indeed, convincing or changing a person's way of thinking is not an easy thing.

In my opinion, we should try to convince and change their minds but if they still stubbornly ignore us, let them do whatever they want. Don't leave them alone, but don't spend too much time trying to convince them if they are too stubborn.

Right words. The best way is to avoid advices if your friend doesn`t asks about it. Adults can live their lives as they want and get their own experience. The same time today i understand, that part of my advices at least didn`t help, another part even wasn`t listened. Now i give advices only if someone asks me about it.

This is always the end game for all those gamblers that don’t have any experience of bitter loss. It’s hard to warn them if they are still hook on the game since gambling games are so addictive when you experience win.

Experience is always the greatest teacher to everyone especially on this scenario that people on greed state is hard to teach.

Just approach them if they are already to be teach.

It is difficult to approach some gambling addicts because they don't accept that they have a problem. Some of them will claim that what they are doing is right. Experience is indeed the best teacher, but it is not good to have a very bad experience. Some people lost a fortune because of a single gambling mistake.

I would like my children to learn many things from me except gambling. Seeing young people who are addicted to gambling is pathetic. Seeing addiction destroy people's education is very painful. Some students use their tuition fees for gambling. Anyone who is not greedy will gamble responsibly.

What gambling addicts need is help to regain their sanity, like a visit to a therapist, more support from family and friends, and close monitoring. Addicts have lost control, so approaching them will be very difficult. We can only approach those who are not yet addicted; they are the ones who need constant reminders that they are treading the wrong path. Although some of them may not pay attention to the counsel given to them, at least we have tried in counselling them. The good thing about those who are not yet addicted is that most of them suddenly lose interest in gambling once they face a bitter experience. So, to some extent, experience is just what they need.

You can't stop many people from making a big mistake, you can only try and very few of them will listen and follow your advice, mind you, we stop people from making mistakes doesn't mean they will end up making such mistakes as us.

I remember trying to correct my brother from risking too much on gambling and he didn't listened but the next day when results was out he won a lot of money, enough to feed him for four years to come.

He came back and told me that he told me so, I was just trying to stop him from losing too much but he risked it all and won, I will rather let mistakes be people's teacher than trying to safe them, unless it's life and death situations.

Lol, such mindsets need total overhaul to be honest, and one thing with gamblers with such mindset is that they will hardly listen to you if advicing them, most especially if it's people that you are better than financially, some of them will think that you are only advicing them not to engage themselves in such things simply because you have money yourself and don't have to borrow, so you possibly don't understand their predicament or that you are not in shoes so you possibly don't understand...

Like you said, it's sometimes or most times best to simply allow those with this type of mindset to do what ever they really want to do, possibly with time, they learn their lesson the hard way..

I used to have a friend who loves borrowing money to gamble, even when he has his, he will still borrow money and only pay back that money when he wins, if he doesn't, he will refuse to pay back the money, he did this until everyone knew who he was and started avoiding him, one time when he ended up in a very serious problem, no body could help him because everyone assumed he was lying that he will use the money he was looking for to gamble and will lose it and refuse to pay afterwards, he ended getting arrested and he spend 7 months in prison for something a few hundreds of thousand in Nigerian naira would have sorted out.

Actually you dont need a therapist because your mind alone will be that already enough for you to be able to find yourself be able to quit if you do made up your mind or about being serious on quitting or stopping gambling. It is that having no cost or do talk about being practical but since not everyone is good when it comes to self control and discipline then this is the time that they will be reaching out with these therapist but at first your family or loved ones will be the ones who could be able to help out if you have failed on helping yourself first. I do agree into those words about that when it comes on giving out some advise to someone will be leading into that kind of misinterpretation but other people on which it might that look up that offensive for them in telling them about on what they should gonna do with their money. This is why i dont really like on giving out any advises when it comes on how someone will be making use of their money specially on leisure times on which they do have all the rights on how they would be spending it out.

We do know that most of the time on which a certain person will definitely be not that stopping not until that they would be able to do on what are the things that they do have in mind. When experiencing up unfortunate conditions then this is the time that they will be that stopping into the things that they are currently doing specially if this one talks about financial devastation then its normal that you will literally stop.
Regrets do always happen in the end but people do ignore with those advises on which other people been saying because they've been blinded with their greed and if they arent that good when it comes to self control then they do usually proceeding into the goals that they do have in mind but since gambling is always that pertaining about losing at the end then this is where you do find yourself having these realizations at the end.

Borrowing money to gamble is a serious problem especially if you know you're not a consistent winner. When gambling with borrowed funds becomes your last resort because you can't generate cash anymore, that's when it crosses into dangerous territory. After all, true gambling means never risking money you can't afford to lose.

That said, there's a different scenario where skilled gamblers (with proven track records) treat borrowing like a business investment, using it strategically to scale profits. But let's be clear,  for the average gambler, borrowing almost always leads to trouble.

It usually dims fit for some gamblers and even in some gambling circles(casinos) they're people that largely encourage borrowing money to gamble.Sometimes gamblers overestimate gambling to be a huge source of making money especially because of their past winning experiences so they insist on borrowing,thinking it will pay off.
