You are right. Sometimes it's for free (as it was with some memecoin I've participated in, $ALT), and sometimes it's for a fee, however, it really shouldn't be a lot of money to spend to get the drop on your wallet.

It would be better to have lots of projects like that to get at least one allocation that would fulfill them. It's hard nowadays, but it's possible. Of course, because to send the tokens you get from the airdrop you need a gas fee, generally the gas fee is only around 0.002 - 0.1 $TON. Remember to calculate the number of your tokens because some tokens are priced very low/the number of tokens you receive is too small so it is not worth the gas fee. This will depend on the project and their requirements before you can receive their token. I don’t really fancy projects asking for gas fees in order to claim their tokens especially those that their token is worthless, you’ll just end up spending your money and getting little or nothing in return for it. Although most of the telegram based apps I have seen their airdrops, excepts notcoin that first launched and didn’t ask for any gas fees, most of the coming ones after it asked for it and none of them have done well in the market like notcoin did till date. So if you feel the project is worth spending on, you can send TON to your wallet and use it as gas fees to receive your token.
