Dude isn't happy with his life. Don't be serious, everyone has their own fooling terms to what they wish to make with. If Gamekyuubi did wrongly spell hold into hoDL which became history, why not just be happy about it? If you're not happy about that, you're free not to follow the flock and never use the term at all. This two things means same in the forum and it depends on your choice of usage, when I joined the forum recently I was arguing same spelling of both until I understand that someone mistake or method of writing hold and other people copied same writing method, but since if its written and we understand the reason why is being written I don't think that anything is wrong about it seriously because I know that we have understood it, maybe other beginner might be confused about it, but when the beginner ask as you asked it will be explained to them and they will also understand that its a method people adopted

Only the important people in the seminar will give formal speeches, but in terms of pronunciation of "hold" and "hodl" there is not much difference (probably because of my different language).
But the stupid time with the second term, The goal is the same and not because it is not educated, it is just about habit and not very important, OP is too perfectionist.

Many people have already answered correctly and that means it is just a slang for those of us who have this culture of being involved in cryptocurrency. HODL and HOLD actually mean different things. HODL which is an abbreviation for "hold on for dear life" is used to describe people whose believe and trust in bitcoin is so high that they will be willing to hold it for their life time. It is use to emphasize holding for a very long time with no intention of selling no matter what happens. And the interesting part is that the whole word was actually coined in the forum a few years back and I believe it wasn't an intentional action though but looking at the situation and event that the misspelled word became accepted by the community and the entire crypto space ,it continued serving the same meaning as the actual context of the word HOLD which is to actually hold on to something for a long time and from that time HODL has been the ability of an Bitcoin or crypto enthusiast to hold on their asset despite the ups and downs of the market price.

Hold is better than HODL. Hold On Dear Life looks to be unrealistic because we need to take profit and use it for things in our lives. It's unrealistic to think that we only plan to spend our saving money for investment and HODL it without any idea and plan to take profit. It is like a lie to ourselves because we must think of take profit, and we are only different in our time to take profit.

HODL is like holding our bitcoin forever, it's unrealistic in investment view. People who are not in cryptocurrency market will say you make a typo with HODL.

Hello, welcome to an interesting (possibly important) discussion. I know from talking (offline) to real people BTC and Crypto does not have a positive, solid reputation among mainstream, everyday humans. This communities history of major thefts, scandals, and "huge hacks" has done lasting damage to your reputation.

Many people either enjoy it, or blindly follow others when using/screaming the misspelled word HODL! Do you seriously think this does any good when new people see it for the first time? People can say "I am a holder" or "I am a hodler" but I agree with you, this is not important. Saying has very little importance in reality and practice. The importance goes to their actions, what they actually do with money and in the market are more important.

It decides the balance between Buying and Selling Demand, FOMO and Panic emotional balance and can impact price on the market. We don't know who are buyers and who are sellers except if they are institutional investors and make public reports or announce their addresses publicly.

With small investors and traders, they simply buy and sell in silently, without information to the public and we don't, at least I don't, care that they call themselves as holders or hodlers.
