Difficulty accessing the forum with Tor on mobile phone

Does this happen to anyone else? When I log in to the forum I do it from PC, with Tor, but from time to time I take a look from my mobile and when I use Tor the forum doesn't load, when I try other pages and they do load, like bpip.org.

I'd say this didn't happen before, I've been noticing it for a couple of weeks now.

Check your Settings: go to Connection, Config Bridge. Check whether you turn on Bridge as if you use bridge for connection, it can bring some issues for your connection sometimes.

Same when you connect to Tor via Bridges on computers.

About Bridges.

Using bridges in combination with pluggable transports helps to conceal the fact that you are using Tor, but may slow down the connection compared to using ordinary Tor relays.

This is not the first time, similar complaint have been made. The most common issue is the cloudf;are / DDps protection. Since bitcointalk uses DDos protection mechincism like cloudfare these service sometimes block traffic from Tor, speifically on mobile device where users are less.

I too encounter this phenomenon periodically. I have noticed that it happens when using certain servers on my VPN. I can't explain the reason for this behavior of these servers, maybe CloudFlare considers them suspicious or something else, but when I switch to another server this problem disappears.

I face this whenever I am trying to access the forum using TOR. So I also think it's a cloudflare related thing. More like a security checkup. In normal cases without using any third party VPN or TOR like things it never shows up. Sometimes it would show up when the Internet connection is so slow. Apart from these cases, never encountered this.

Forgot to add one thing, "View all" causes it every time, who knows why!

I posted this using Tor on an Android phone.

The only problem I had was the slow connection and captcha but I was able to solve the captcha.

If you are visiting this forum often, Tor can be frustrating. I prefer to use VPN but worth knowing that they are centralized.

Well, I don't know maybe it may work for you because I also experienced ithis same issues yesterday but after I turned ON my Airplane mood and rebooted the phone it worked smoothly.
At time it might be network issues.

Thanks for your opinion but I think you're wrong my friend. The first two threads you post are about accessing the forum with Tor, no distinction. I'm talking about being able to access from PC and not from mobile.

The other two you put in Ever-young's quote are one about the (discarded) new software, and the other about an app. I don't want an app, what I am asking is why I can access the forum using Tor on my PC but not on my mobile.

I find notocactus' answer more potentially useful. I'll have a look at what he says later.

Perhaps, you can also check for any antivirus software you have installed in your device if it's compatible with the Tor or something. Such can cause similar troubles as you're facing with your mobile.

I would try switching identity location in Tor, but don't expect to have fast speed with Tor browser.
Android devices usually work better with chrome browser, so you can try Brave browser Tor option instead.

Antivirus on Android isn't useful at all, every app runs on isolation.

Sometimes TOR android itself has connectivity issue irrespective of the good internet connection, what I do is just close the app (force stop) and open again that will solve the issue.

Connection speed is usually the main issue when I use TOR - sometimes the page loading is really slow and this makes me tend to avoid TOR. I tend to use firefox or chrome which I sometimes combine with VPN - but yes, most good VPN are paid and not free. But there is always a solution to increase the effectiveness of TOR - you can do some adjustments as suggested by some users above.

So, I've checked and I don't connect via bridges on either (mobile and computer).

The only difference I see is that I've got the HTTPS-Only Mode enabled on my PC but not on my mobile, which doesn't make sense to me. When  I can't connect using my mobile I can see a message like the connection is not secure but I don't have HTTPS-Only Mode enabled.

Thanks for the other tips but I don't think it's a question of connection speed, as at the moment I'm on the same connection for both and I can connect via Tor with my PC but not with my mobile.

I changed various settings in the mobile Tor and didn't notice any difference - so I concluded that the mobile version is simply not up to the level of the desktop version, or the problem is with my (already somewhat old smartphone).


Off topic (but related to Tor), I noticed in my IP logs that a server in Antarctica appears several times, and by name it's a Chinese research base, which I find a bit strange considering how they treat privacy. I did not find any information about the existence of any server there on the official or any other site.

I don't think that's exactly my case. I try to enter bitcointalk from the mobile using tor and I can't but at that same moment I try bpip.org, mempool.space or others and they load right away.

But it seems to me that it happens only to me, judging by the answers.

Mine is the opposite actually. I never had any problems using Tor on my mobile, but for the PC version I face issues once in a while. The most common one is the establishing new connection taking forever, which I don't know why! Even worse changing settings, bridges, configuration doesn't fixes the problem. As a result I had to (still do) install/uninstall tor several times when I couldn't fix the issue!

I guess, it's not always about speed but the browser itself.

Yeah It does...apart from the unending captcha but not all the time, my solution is closing tor.. it displays like an Internet connectivity  issue I guess?
I don't use Tor that much unless I got caught up there..

How to see the log?

Very simple, you click on Profile -> Account Related Settings -> Limit IP retention -> Your logged IPs for the last 30 days.

No, as far as I know, you can only download packages and install NYM on linux, macOS, wind0ws and android, or compile it from source code.
