Newbie doesn't know how to use bitcointalk using the TOR browser, don't worry I make the short tutorial for you. a. First, download TOR Browser here > https://www.torproject.org/download/b. Open TOR Browser then type in URL box > https://bitcointalk.orgc. login with your credential. I know your problem is captcha, when successful login in 5 minutes, go to captcha page > https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.phpYou will see a login code to bypass it. 1. copy that link 2. bookmarked in TOR browser 3. closed tor 4. try to log in with the bookmarked. 5. enjoy your free captcha. Then, enjoy your privacy. I suggest you do not use the clearnet browser again, not only for this but for other activities also, too much evil on clearnet. I don't want you to get into the trap by your habit self.

The tutorial is very simple, i would suggest you to add image or mention using bridge (if TOR is blocked on place where the reader live). You might need to switch circuit to be able to complete the reCAPTCHA. You can do it by using shortcut "Ctrl+Shift+L" or click menu icon and click "New Tor Circuit for this Site"

This is great! We were just wondering (in the Spanish local sub-forum) how this could be done, as it is not so obvious.
Thanks for sharing, I was almost convinced that it wasn't technically possible. I wish I knew this a few years ago.

This doesn't make sense, there is a captcha on the login page, and then there is a captcha bypass page? What is the point of having a captcha in the first place?

you have to try login in using TOR. I think is clear if you follow the instruction, there is the link to have to follow to bypass the captcha but, if you already log in using chrome or firefox now, just go to step 2 to get code - https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.php then copy the code into TOR.

Mainly because there are lots of TOR user who are having a hard time to solve a captcha since using TOR will make you realize that you aren't human enough to bypass them with just a few clicks. In comparison to other browsers, TOR requires you to solve a lot of puzzles before you can successfully log in. In addition, you are given a unique link that will allow you to easily connect to your account without having to enter a captcha. If you're concerned about hackers or bots attempting to bruteforce your account, I believe it has something to do with the strength of your password. You can also request a new unique link if you suspect that someone else has your prior current link.

This is the most important thing to easily bypass the captcha in tor, even using firefox/chrome in the first time use since the captcha is sometimes annoying (probably mostly), I guess this is a worth mentioning in the OP to prevent this: I know your problem is captcha, when successful login in 5 minutes

That to avoid abuse register using the bot. We go on off-topic when talking about Forum system. you should ask it on meta. Captcha bypass is primarily used when using TOR as your browser to access your bitcointalk account in order to avoid repetitive captcha puzzles, which can be tedious to solve most of the time. You don't need to use the captcha bypass if you're using a standard browser like Chrome or Firefox because, unlike with TOR, it only takes 1 or 2 tries to successfully login to your account.

In fact, the OP suggests not to use the clearnet browser again for any other activities also. It's not about having something to hide, but about your privacy and not to be abused by unscrupulous third parties. Take into account that people here talks about economy, politics, Bitcoin... problematic subjects in certain countries and, where not, delicate ones for many.

Bookmark the login code page and switch your security to Safest. Javascript has lots of flaws and if securing your real identity is your goal, this is one good tip to follow. By switching to Safest, scripts won't work no more.. preserving your identity better at the expense of comfort.

There are other browsers like Opera and Firefox that generally disable tracking cookies and advertisement. Opera also has free VPN which can be used through Private window, you can fool the ISP and the government at the same time. I personally have not logged into the forum using the Opera's Private window hence I would not be able to confirm whether there would be any issue with the captcha. DuckDuckGO has a privacy browser for android too.

It's worth sacrificing convenience to get privacy/anonymity. There are other browsers like Opera and Firefox that generally disable tracking cookies and advertisement. Opera also has free VPN which can be used through Private window, you can fool the ISP and the government at the same time.
AFAIK, firefox doesn't disable cookies in the first place, further configuration like adding an add on is necessary to do it. Also, a free VPN is a no go. Even Opera free VPN claim they have a no-log policy. We can't know for sure what is happening behind it. I also can't find any reference about whether Opera VPN has done an independent audit or not. If you seek privacy, Using a trusted VPN is the least thing you should do. And you better use Firefox with some additional configuration to maximize it. On other hand, If you seek anonymity, Using Tor is the way to go.

Why go with such pain in accessing this forum through TOR. Most users do it for better privacy reason. I don't think people would say bother using TOR because by far privacy is much more important than any online activity you have to log in while using a browser. I am using TOR Android as well as PC. It is much easier to use than having to pawn your privacy which can be logged at any time in another browser.

What's the user experience like on Android? I've always been skeptical of using it on a mobile phone. Not only because of the user interface, but because of frequent network changes, and mobile phone connections generally being slower (depending on where you are) home connections. I can see the benefits of using Tor Browser on a phone instead of a VPN, just because some applications on your phone which work in the backround don't like you using VPN's, and you risk losing access to accounts. Obviously, I imagine the experience on this forum with a Mobile Phone, connected via Tor is pretty horrible. I've had to use a phone a few times when I was out on expeditions, and that wasn't fun at all.

It definitely sucks if you're not using the ccode to login in order to skip reCaptcha or if you have a bad connection. As long as you're patient with the little slower loading times, it's all fine though. Something I recently keep getting is the "please turn on JavaScript" page that makes a Tor browser restart necessary. And that's likely because previous Tor users have created spam on the forum so the protection system against spam of the forum sometimes gets triggered all of a sudden. But for the sake of my privacy, I ignore all these negative points and just keep using Tor without JS when browsing.

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-desktop#w_what-enhanced-tracking-protection-blocks. Also, a free VPN is a no go. According to https://restoreprivacy.com/vpn/reviews/opera-vpn/, Opera VPN does collect and sell your data.
